An unusal post I am sure.
As most of you know there was an unfortunate incident on saturday when one of our regional competitors hit an object that didn't move.
We took up a quick collection at the event amongst the subaru drivers and quickly came up with over 300$$$$ to help mike out with his repairs.
If anyone in the series is interested in donating to help mike repair his car I will take donations at the bracebridge event. a $5 or $10 donation would be greatly appreciated and maybe mike can be out back with us shortly.
Please note that Mike has not asked me or any of the Subaru Performance Drivers Assn to make this request, he had a hard time accepting the money we gathered saturday.
I know this is unusal, its the first time I have seen serious damage to anyones car at a solo 2 event.
I trust I have not offended anyone with this post. If so please respond to me privately at ruimprzd@rogers.com.
Thanks
Tony Kloosterman
Hi All,
To make it easier, I've opened up a Paypal account.. If you are interested in making donations, please send payment via paypal to:
jtrin@hotmail.com
In the heading, please inlude the title "Mike A"
Thank you in advance.
At the end of the month, I'll print out a summary and post it here. That amount of cash will be forwarded to Mike.
Thanks again.
Thanks for taking the initiative Tony. Count me in.
I too had a similar fate at an event in 2001. The tree took a little scrape and my car was not so fortunate.

Now why would anyone want this deleted?
Car went off course and hit something. This time it was an object. Next time..........
From what I understand it was a situation that as a sport we can learn from and plan to avoid the next time.
Sweeping things that affect the safety of the sport out of sight is not the way to deal with this.
An investigation should be, and probably already has been, started to find out why this happened and how this can be avoided next time.

I know how the competitor feels BTW. This cost me $3500:

But nobody took up a collection to help me out
Edited by Dave: Marsh, hope you don't mind...just cleaning up this entire thread so we can help Mike out.

Tony... no hard feelings... just trying to keep things on the up-and-up...
See my thread in "general discussion" to continue on this "topic" of safety and board policies.
Thanks to all.
Once this thread is "cleaned up" I will delete my comments...
Note to Miatabio: because it's been a while, I've cleaned up the thread since you may no longer have been able to edit these posts.

I would like to personally thank everyone who was there for me this weekend. I really learned how great the people involved in this sport are, willing to help a fellow competitor out, that was down on his luck/made a few mistakes. Thanks to everyone that came over and made sure I was ok, offered to help in so many ways.
SPDA(Tony, Joe, Luca, Daniel, Pete, Brain and everyone else) you guys are the best, thank you all for what you have already done this weekend..which was already to much.
Note to all: I have been granted SuperModerator powers so I cleaned up the entire thread. If anyone objects to what I've deleted, let me know.
Now lets try to raise some more $ for Mike!

Dave,
The easiest thing to do is to send a paypal payment. It's really easy to setup a Paypal account, alternate method of payment is in your PM box.
Paypal account information is: jtrin@hotmail.com
Put "Mike A" in the title of the payment.
Thanks again.
Thanks Joe. I think have a PayPal account already, so I'll give it a try!
edit: Paypal seems to work nicely...let me know if it worked, Joe!
Hey Dave,
Paypal is great. I got your mulah...
Thanks
I'll be printing out a statement and putting it up here at the end of the month, just to keep things above board. That's another nice thing about Paypal...
