I am trying to decide on a good tire choice for days when it's rainy or cooler out. I'm planning to run hoosier slicks for the hot days, but I don't think they will work well when its wet or cooler. What would people suggest? I do have a new set of A048's that I could use, but I don't think they would be optimal.

710's have shown to work at some pretty cold temps. Cold and wet the R888 also showed well. I've seen no data for the A048 (as virtually nobody is running them) but I'll wager they work pretty well in the cold (the old A032R was the best cold and wet tire around in its day).

And don't ask Americans. You'll get a ton of responses from people in the south that think 55 degrees in indescribably cold to be holding an autoslalom and their idea of a 'cold weather tire' will be to just keep using your hoosier slicks

Kumho has the new W710 out that is designed for wet competition use, and Hoosier has the Radial Wet geared to the same market. Both are DOT tires.

The TireRack sells both of these if you want to compare directly.
