What do you people think of the Sparco sprint seat?

Thats what we're using in the Integra for this year :)
Cheap, comfortable enough, FIA homologated, and now we could finally use a 6-pt harness.

Hi chris
Are they comfortable enough to use as a street/track seat as I think my car will be seeing another year on the street. Also what would a good used one cost?I will probly be using a 5 point this year as I have the rool bar in now:D The Kirkey intermediate also is a nice seat.I sat in one at CSC for a few hours waiting for my bar to be installed, very comfortable.

I have a set of Speeds. They're not FIA and don't have a spot for a submarine belt. They're quite tight fitting and I'm 6 2'' about 165. They are comfy though.

I honestly haven't sat in a Sprint seat, but here's my take on two other models. I've got a Circuit and just picked up a pair of Sprint 5's for a project of mine.

I'm 6'1" and about 175 with a 32" waist. The Circuit is tight and in all honesty probably a little small for my 6'1" frame. Regardless I like the tight fit, for short periods. As a street seat - forget it.

The Sprint 5 doesn't have the side head restraints like the Circuit does. It's a little wider in the hip and through the torso. It's side bolsters arent as deep, but it's still comfy and has good support. The back head restraint is a fair bit lower than the Circuit but should still do it's job. There are two main difference with the Sprint 5 compared to other Sparco seats. 1) It's a sprung seat that uses a steel frame so it helps absorb some vibrations and makes for a but softer feel. 2) The under leg support kicks up noticably. This kind of lends itself to a seating position where your knees are bent pretty good. If you prefer to sit with your legs outstretched then this is not the seat for you.

The Sprint 5 can be side or bottom mounted. With the leg support noted you'll probably want to opt for the side mounts to get a fair amount of recline in the seat.

Thanks everyone.I think I will probably go with a Kirkey intermediate and if the used sprint is in good shape may get it for passenger side, after all they're just ballast:D ;)

I think its pretty comfortable, but its hard to tell because its sitting in my living room right now... lol. I watched TV in it for a bit and was alright :)
Its going to be in Jasons car, and he'll be using it for street/track. But in reality the car barely gets driven unless its driven to the track... so long drive comfort wasn't too important for us.

Also keep in mind Jason weighs like 70 lbs :p, so he fits well in there. I fit well into it also (I weight 147). Osbert tried and he was very uncomfortable (I believe he's in the 190lb area). I'm not familiar with the Kirkey seat, however if you sat in it for an extended period of time and were comfortable, then thats the one you're going to want!

hi Chris
I figured the sprint would be too tight.I weigh a sleek 195:p
I did sit in the kirkey intermediate for 3 hrs reading a book and was very comfy. If I decide to do the race weight option I may get it budget allowing as I plan on doing more lapping this year.Hopefully your car holds up for a few events,if not maybe Jay will take pity on you and you could drive the integra:DAnyways hope to see you out there!
Later,Dan

LOL

I got spoiled after driving Jays car at the last Shannonville event... lol
I won't be doing the whole season this year, but I should be around a couple times. Most likely driving his car, unless my is working properly and theres some good competition in the Touring classes :)

It will be interesting to see where everyone ends up classwise.Judging by the forums there has been alot of work being done this winter.Myself I should be in GT3R.

Is there a difference between installing a 6pt harness thru the crotch hole vs the side holes where the lap belt goes?

compare this

to this

I've heard the 6 pt is more effective if its thru the sides, but that doesn't make sense for racing seats to have the centre/crotch hole... ???

Hi Dave
I'm no expert but the second picture looks like the proper way to do it.The center hole would be more for a 5pt,I would think.Any thoughts from the people that actually use a six pt?
