Probably end up in D/Modified but hoping to clear this up before the weekend and registering:

1971 Porsche 914
Engine swap out of a 1978 911SC 3.0L flat six with FI replaced by carbs
Front suspension out of a 77 911
180lb rear springs with adjustable koni's and 5 bolt hubs

Is there a class above DMOD?

Thanks,
Walter

Why above DMOD?

Basically, MOD classes are very open, and only have the basic car criteria for classing.

Usually competitors will want to keep their cars in the lowest possible class, to be as competitive as possible.

You can PM me or email me directly, but the basic questions will be:

Are you running slicks or R-compounds?
Is the car street legal?
How much trim has been removed?

Probably the biggest hurdle will be the engine. There was a 1969-1972 914-6, but it came with a 2.0L 6 cylinder. You could swap that in for free in ASP, but then you will have to take points for modifying the engine up to the 3.0L. Then, you will need to take the points for the carburetion if you are using different carbs than came on the 914/6 or 911T.

You should email Gary and I and we can see if we can get you sorted out.

Are you planning on running this weekend?

Thanks Pete,
The above DMOD comment was a bit of a joke asking if there was anything else that would push me higher.

Street tires.
Street legal.
No trim removed.

The carbs were not original to the engine, but that's the way I bought it. I don't think the original 911 FI system would fit inside the engine bay of the 914.

I do plan on running on Sunday, but as a newcomer to Autoslalom I don't expect to be competitive.

I think you will end up in DMOD, because the engine rules do not allow a greater than 10% increase in displacement.

Just make sure that you have all of the safety equipment required for MOD.

What are you referring to here, Pete?

Roll bar is recommended, but not required.

He's on street tires, so no harness required.

What other special requirements are there for running in Mod with less than 16 prep points? I ask, because it's going to affect me, too. I'm BSP, but will run DMOD if BSP isn't full.

We have NO idea how many points he has. It is likely to be less than 16, but I would not want to make that call until I knew what was in the car.
