3, Subaru Traction control can make you collect 8 cones
4, I need to remember to turn off traction control
5, Stock Subaru Turbos take forever to spool
6, No-one else in my class has a stock tune
7, I need to remember to turn off traction control.
8, Magic orange cone dust can collect on the rear bumper after cone carnage
9, Major cobwebs after winter need to be dusted...
10, I need to remember to turn off traction control.

WIL?

1) It's WAY easier to run that track when there are no cones in the way!! :p (or just avoid as many of the ones that are there ... if any of you noticed my "tactic" at the end of the day during "fun runs"! :D)

2) Next time, bring a car to competition that I'm actually willing to compete with, instead of a fresh-out-of-paint "beauty queen".

3) Holy crap, Miatas really ARE great auto-x cars!!

1. Miata really is the answer
2. It is possible to have a May event where it doesn't rain.
3. 4 runs wasn't quite enough to really learn the course, but I'm not sure 7 would have been either.
4. As much as did love the Solo 1.5 I'm ready to get back to a traditional parking lot course.
5. Pete was right, SS has a much better PAX.
6. Two events down in the new car and it's performing better than I thought it would.
7. The event was clearly worth $40. Even without lunch. ;)

1. Holy CRAP I'm tired! and my face hurts too! what's up with that??
2. What a weekend! I had no idea being slow would make me soooo tired.
3. Good news!!! No one will hit any cones for the rest of the year! 2 Subies ate up the annual quota in just 1 day! Send your thanks to a certain blue one (#16) and i think the other one was #46 :p Thanks for taking one for the team boys!
4. 1700lb miatas do not make good off road recreation vehicles.

1> The DDT is a WONDERFUL place for Solo2!
2> Dealing with elevation change can shake up the leaderboard.
3> EBC Reds are just enough pad for that event... if you remember to actually brake soon enough.
4> Marshals at station two can hear your cursing over the sound of your engine and exhaust.
5> If you don't do an Autoslalom for two years, the people you used to compete for FTD with will now spank you.
6> A whack of horsepower, controlled power oversteer in most corners, and suddenly you're the best driver "evar". Who knew it wasn't about times or those seven cones you collected? I'll take compliments like that any day.
7> 7 cones!??! Apparently the 6mm spacers widen the car more than I thought... At least SOMEONE had a greater collection than I did...
8> RA-1's manufactured in January 2005 have still got it.
9> Wes is STILL getting faster.

Kudos to OMSC and the series timers for sorting out the new software on short notice!

No kidding on that one! I remember being in the top ten overall very regularly, take a couple of years off to play with race cars (and get injured) then come back and have a hard time cracking the top 20!!!

Good event OMSC!

(oh yeah, you're right about Wes still getting faster too!!!)

10> Did we just finish a slalom with more Mazdas in the weeds than Subarus?!?

1. Bring Sunblock
2. My car is wider than it was last year? (>4 cones)
3. I don't know how I can ever go back to a parking lot.
4. Do I EVER need better tires
5. FWD Volvo's are not faster than miatas (well, around cones anyway :) )
6. I want a lighter RWD car (anyone know where I can find a cheap clean E30?)
7. Very happy I managed to climb out of bed because that was the most fun I have ever had in a car.

1) Audis are not particularly great for autoslalom
2) Falken 912 all seasons (although performance all seasons) are not great for autoslalom
3) I had a blast!

1. Good tires make a good difference!
2. Wider tires means I need to move over a few inches to avoid eating cones!
3. Brake lights are a good thing to have.

1. Sure need a lot of cones for a DDT autoslalom.
2. It's possible to put at least one of every autoslalom element (except a pin turn) into a DDT autoslalom
3. Aiming to have a provincial series with unique and different events seems to have worked. Now bring on large and small parking lots before a double header airport event.
4. Winters are too long, skills are too weak to survive hibernation
5. Supercharging doesn't make you faster, better driving is the real solution. Now where to find a better driver?
6. Supercharging does raise the fun per run ratio a lot, right Paul and Curtis?
7. Great teamwork, flexibility and patient people make for a great event.
8. Orange shirts work, there are many more good questions than good answers.

seemed the orange shirts had some sort of gravitational affinity to finding cones this weekend too :D

1.) The first event every year is just a reminder how much I miss AutoSlalom
2.) CG Lock does really work well( thanks Wes)
3.) CG Lock only works if your seat belt is buckled up( 95% of run 2 with NO seat belt ) no way I'm slowing down to buckle it back up!
4.) RWD+ moderate power= fun

Well, time to take off more weight!

And for some really odd reason, I wasn't the least bit concerned when your belt did come off. I just made sure mine was extra secure ;)

1) Going to sleep at 3:45am and waking up at 5:15am makes it a really long day. Sleep earlier!
2) Driving DDT counter-clockwise is definitely different.
3) My car is a cone magnet.
4) Sprinkling cone repellent on JoeT works.
5) Sacrificing the entry to get a good exit makes you much faster. Just don't hit cones in the process.
6) My car is a cone magnet.

Just wanted to post a thanks to the organizers and OMSC. Great event - loved the full track, although I wish my driving was better.

and a thanks to all of the competitors while we worked out the glitches in the new timing system (you can simulate running the system, but you will never find issues you didn't know you had until race day).

For future: if you happen to notice errors in the grid list/classing/etc/I'm missing from the results, please let timing know during the event (preferably when cars are running - not when we are printing/troubleshooting) so we can correct the results before the next print.

Looking forward to the next event at the end of june.

1. Neil Young was wrong. Rust does sleep. It hibernates over the winter - and it does not only affect metal. Drivers are prone to it, too.
2. Walking a course does not always give you a good feeling of how tight certain course elements are - or - over the winter, you forget how wide your car is.
3. Best line of the day, simultaneously uttered by at least two people after a lengthy, non-timing system delay, in response to "What happened out there?" - - - "Joe happened."
4. A slalom course on the DDT, designed to slow you down in the slalom right where you've learned to go quickly on an open DDT, really messes with what you've learned on a track.
5. You get a mixed feeling when your key competitor the year before changes classes because of "upgrades" to their car, and they're several seconds behind you.
6. I always seem to be able to post my personal FTD with my son in the car on a fun run.
7. The DDT with all of its elements and elevation changes, is lots of fun, especially when a slalom uses the full course.
8. Cool wind really hides the fact that you are getting sunburned.

Thanks to the organizers and marshalls, the timers for working with the new system. No doubt there would have been more runs if it wasn't the first event of the year. $40 for the day, even without lunch = worth it.

Allen - at least you did that and had some fun. I've done Toronto-Ottawa and back in one day, but for business. No fun.

I've done that a couple times too. track time always makes a drive to and from the event not so bad :D and of course, being able to hang out with like minded wheel nuts.
