Hey folks , quick question. A buddy of mine from work wants to take a performance driving school. Not a racing school, just wants to know how to brake, shift and turn properly at an elavated speed. The only one I could think of was the old Bridgestone ( ? ) school at Mosports DDT. I haven't been out much to any schools and have lost track of what out there. He's got a Pantera , and the trick bits on it, and if I can get his confidence up he might come out and play sometime at a solo or two. Any help would be great gang:cool:

OMSC used to run a basic sort of school at some of their lap days - that would be the best option IMO.

I can't think of a better school for this than the SoloSprint 2 day school (Joe has provided the link above)
OMSC has a lapping day coming up at the DDT on June 28 (as well as a lapping evening at Shannonville on Fri June 12) but neither will have the sort of instruction available that your friend wants.
I suggest he contact Cap'n Pete here to see if there are any cancellations for this weekend. Showing up at the gate is unlikely to be successful.

The SoloSprint School this weekend is "tentatively" sold-out, although that's not "official" yet ;). There "may" be 1 or 2 spots, but likely not. Considering the school is in 2 days, I really should know within the next ~24 hours!!! :D

BMW Trillium training is top notch. Going straight to the big track at Mosport is a bit of a leap though. I would start on the DDT with Ian Law. If the Prelude and Jaguar days don't sell out, you can join them. I've lapped with and instructed with both clubs and they're good folk!

Not SUCH a huge leap - I run the school and we have lots of Newbies who learn and progress to high levels - you have a dedicated instructor for the weekend - classroom sessions (Curriculum by Ross Bentley of Speed Secrets Fame), and skidpad exercises.
Interesting fact: The club with the highest number of members with Regional Racing Licenses - The BMW Club!!!
