DOH! Barrie Molson Centre on the wife's Birthday??? Awww........ :(
You know, I could be a little devious here... I could "arrange" a fight on the 27th so that I have a REASON to go out on the 28th. Hrrrmmmmm....
"I was still hurt from what you said yesterday and I just HAD to get out of here. I was too worried about what I'd say if I stayed..."
Wanted: Place to spend the night on June 28th. Maybe the 29th and 30th too. Shouldn't be more days than that...

If you are going to be in the dog house anyway you might as well come out to Barrie Speedway KOTH Sat and then after Auto-X Sunday drive over to Varney Speedway for KOTH on the high bank. Rob and I should be there.

We'll see what we can find... There is a hotel right behind Walmart/Barrie Ford across the HWY from the Molson Center. Another bigger one at the next exit too and 3-4 more at the next. All less than 5-10 minutes away. I'll get the names for the interest of this thread. Maybe we can set up a group buy or something.

I called them for group rates.
Room with 2 Queens - $99.90/night + taxes
Room with 1 King - $89.90/night + taxes
Rooms include complimentary continental breakfast and wireless internet service. It's a brand new hotel too.
They hold the rooms up to 30 days in advance so all rooms need to be booked by May 27th. They allow 24-hr cancellation notice.
This is for Friday Jun 26 and Sat Jun 27 or just for Sat Jun 27.
So far I've requested a block of 7 Queen rooms and 3 King rooms. This can change if there is more needed. I just need to call her to confirm we will be staying there and it'll be up to each of us to individually to call and book the room.

Barrie Speedway said that if we get enough people we could run an AWD class and 2WD class for KOTH if we like. Because eveyone knows AWD launches better then 2WD. Then the 2WD people won't be left in the dust at the line. It's more fun when the races are closer and the fans like it more.

It's actually not that easy, AWD is hard to launch properly and most end up bogging. A 2wd properly launched will kill a stock WRX...

The MX-5 is much easier to launch than the MS6 was, RWD is the way to go.

Although, I was surprised when the fun runs started and I saw your car loose it in that same section you were nailing pretty good all day. Turned out it was some stupid ass driving your car... :p :D

It's basically a drag on the oval. Normally 1 lap, but sometimes they do a 2 lap elimination with a 5 lap chase for the finals.

The definition of "street car" varies from track to track. Delaware used to be anything goes as long as you drove it there. More than a few guys would trailer their cars to town and drive the 5 km out to the track. Now they look for current tags after somebody showed up in a full oval race truck on slicks with cage (he lost) and the check DOT numbers in the final round only.

Unless you have a LOT of power then you'll have the car completely sorted out and be flat on the gas long before you get anywhere near the walls. The only time I've seen KOTH cars hit the wall was people who didn't have a clue and tried to go into turn 3 flat in a street car with all seasons.
That said I did send a worker running at Barrie once. I lost the tail in turn one and drifted through turn 2. I was quite confident I would save it in time, but he wasn't. He was standing at the track entrance on the outside of turn two and I caught a glimpse of him running for life when I checked that my new path was clear.

I ran KOTH at Mosport a few years ago. As I'm sitting on the line to go next all the people in the stands get up and look towards turn 3. I check my mirrors just in time to see a pickup getting totalled into the wall.
We had to drive around the debris on our first lap.

Its all relative you can alwase have an off
as joe said in another post elseware thats why you only run 90% or so;)
ive tail cliped the wall as well as been pused up to the marbels and slid touched back bumper to the outside of turn 4 kicking me down and into buddys door:( that really sucked
it happens
any time there more then one car theres always a chance of driver stupidity
and then theres allways the nobbs that get a $100 beater and wantd to traid paint
we used to line them up aganst me and the truck my paint is cheep
but all in all its relitvly safe, if you use your mind and think.
we all have an advantage over the average street driver that comes out who dose not know his car. we all know what we can and can not do with our cars.
any way im off to barrie for Chang's Return to the oval after his rebirth:D

What her post meant was the hotel was willing to hold a group of rooms together (aka a block) so that everyone was in the same area. But they hotel is only willing to hold this block until the 14th and if the rooms are not filled by CASC members they will be no longer held and available to the general public again.

What her post meant was the hotel was willing to hold a group of rooms together (aka a block) so that everyone was in the same area. But they hotel is only willing to hold this block until the 14th and if the rooms are not filled by CASC members they will be no longer held and available to the general public again.
Cole's notes: book your room no later then June 13 if you want to be able to book with the rest of the CASC members.
What he said :)

It's a timed event, meaning, if you drift you're going to go slow. Remember, you only have 1 timed run in the afternoon to put it all together!! Drifting is the slow way around a corner. There maybe a corner or 2 where you have to setup for the turn early in order to get the correct line out, use the technique that'll yield the fastest elapsed time. (But drifting will be the slow way around that corner)
The biggest difference is in the number of cones used. Gymkhana's typically use a single cone with marker to show which side you go on, all standard autoslalom rules apply. Hit a cone and it's 2 seconds. The courses are very open, since there are very few outside gates.

I like the less cones idea. That means there's less for me to hit.

If Tod's info isn't on the registration form, it is on the list of meeting venues for TLMC....so Tod, if you finish just a 10th behind me Sunday, that should be good enough...:D
