Well I think I have figured out how the car classification works but mabey someone can tell me if I am reading the rulebook right.I have an 89 civic and that puts me in super stock/street prepared class c and I have 6 points to play with.I have removed the interior and added a cage and extinguisher,I added urethane bushings and removed and replaced the glass with lighter material. That leaves me with 3 points and 3 points to use.I know that this is a lot to ask but I just want to know if I am reading it right.
Thanks for all the input.

I really need to read the rule book more often.

I noticed in the Super Stock rules the following exists under the Camber Kits section:
9.5.4.v. Note: Many modern suspension designs known by other names actually function as double A-arm designs. These include the rear suspensions on 88+ Honda Civic/Integra, Neon, E36 BMW, and most “multi-link” and are covered by 8.5.10. suspension bushings may be replaced with bushings of any material (except metal) as long as they fit in the original location. In a replacement bushing, the amount of metal relative to the amount of nonmetallic material may not be increased.

I don't see a 8.5.10 anywhere in the rule book. Also, should that sentence be "...and are covered by 8.5.10. Suspension bushings may be replaced..."?

If somebody were bored and had time on their hands I would think it would be better to move suspensions bushings as a seperate line item rather than tucked in with the Camber Kits section. The current arrangement implies, to me, that you can only change the bushing material if you're changing arms, etc. for camber compensation/adjustment.

It really is kind of hard to total up the prep points of a car, unless you know exactly what was done. If I read correctly:

lightweight windshield - 1 pt
lightweight rear window - 1 pt
lightweight side windows - 2 pts for all
interior excluding seats - 2 pts for all
front seats - 1pt for each
rear seat - 1 pt
rollover - (2 pts)
fire extinguisher - (1 pt), but it has to be a legal extinguisher
poly bushings - 3 pts (other suspension mods)

So far, assuming the rest of your car is stock, then you could be at 9 points already.

I would suggest you PM or email Gary if you would like an exact count.

Well, you do need to read the whole section to follow it. 9.5.4 starts with:

If ‘other suspension modification(s)’ preparation points are taken in the Super Stock category, then the suspension MAY ONLY be modified as specified below:

So, this is in with the authorized mods, IF you take those 3 points.

All of 9.5.4.v really is dealing with alignment stuff, and is primarily dealing with bushings used for alignment.

In fact, 9.5.4.v.f probably should be moved.

I will try to find the correct section. The references always get jumbled when a new rule book gets printed.

I guess what I should ask is if my car is classed in ss/sp and I go over the 6 points for ss then I go int sp.Is this correct? If this is correct then how do I know what class of sp I am in?

You're still in C, you just move from CSS to CSP

OK Thanks for the help.I guess the idea is if you go over your points for ss then use the max points in sp so you can be competetive.

That's the idea... but you're talking to a guy with a 85 whp Civic with 7 points in SP that tries to compete against a 400+ whp that has 16 points (at least) so what do I know...
