What I Learned at Autocross Today - 2009 Regional #2 - TLMC/WOSCA
The baby accused me of seeing another baby behind her back. I tried to tell her it was icing from the cake that blew on me, not spit up, but I don’t think she believes me.
Matching brown shorts with an orange shirt might have been a mistake. Otherwise, a lot of people were just really interested in telling me what they like on their Teen Burgers.
No one has ever seen Tom’s Corolla get on its trailer under its own power.
Given how dusty the lot was, I thought we were in for our first dirt track event. Fortunately, the rain came just as we gridded the first cars and it became the first swamp buggy event instead. I haven’t had a car this muddy since I lived on the farm.
Neglect that first shift point at your own peril. I figured, since I was only at 6,000 by the first gate, I could wait. I didn’t find a place to shift until the back of the course. My reward was an extra couple seconds.
This is now my third consecutive event with at least one run with the wipers on. This time, at least, nobody thought it was unusual.
If the tent dumps a load of water down your front, don’t jump back. The other side of the tent is just waiting to dump one down your back.
We have a large population of motorised gypsies in Southern Ontario. The number of cars on the 400 divided by the number of places to stay north of the GTA minus the population of Toronto is not a negative number. Ergo, many people must spend all their time in their cars just driving up and down the 400. In this economy, I guess that shouldn’t surprise me.
Steve D says he runs faster when he has a passenger to talk to. I just have a hell of a time getting the voices in my head telling me to run over a marshall to shut up during a run.
It’s official now. Bill’s former MR2 now looks like he’s racing a shopping cart.
Great event though. Fantastic course and a huge turn-out. TLMC is doing something right to get 50+ cars out in addition to the 42 we had for Regionals. The course was laid out very nicely and there were a lot of fun battles to watch today.
