First I would like to thanks Marshall for taking over some of the camera duties while I was running. Second, thanks to WOSCA for allowing me to take shelter under their canopy (and sit in their chairs while they stood....) so I cold continue taking some pictures. Third, Mark for holding the umbrella for me when I wasn't taking shelter under WOSCA's canopy.
Pictures from today's Provincial event hosted by Twin Lakes at the Molson Centre in Barrie are available for your viewing pleasure. I THINK there is at least one photo of everyone, but with running and the weather, I can't be sure without seeing the results.

Mind if I post some less-than-amateur pictures in this thread?

I was sorting out the new HD camera, so I apologize for the positioning of the camera and the poor resolution in the uploaded videos. It appears that I'll need some purchased video editing software before I can edit my AVCHD .MTS files and upload in HD. (Unless someone has some free editing software they can recommend.)
...
I haven't done autoslalom since 2006. I had to give it up with the organic clutches because the repair bills to win were a bit high. Losing a clutch and both front axles on one day was too costly, so I had to choose between track and slalom. But for this year, I'm not doing a full SoloSprint season, so I wanted to work on my "short game" again. I tell everyone ... SoloSprint is for drivers who are too old and slow to do Autoslalom anymore. And I mean it. I like Autoslalom, and I find it a LOT harder than track driving. But I'm more of a "10 turns over 4km" type than a "String four turns together" type.
... Paul M. beat me in my own car on Saturday... which I don't mind at all. We were within tenths most of the day while I experimented with different ways to do the tighter parts of the course where I was between gearing / boost curves. Left foot brake, heel-toe to first, blipping the throttle through tight turns to keep the exhaust side of the turbo spooled... BUT, on the ONE TIMED RUN of the day, I hit the second cone on course. CRAP! That meant that I had to throw a Hail Mary to make up two seconds worth of time. Everything went better as I picked up the speed... it was my fastest run of the day... then I pushed the braking point into the stop box a hair too long and went through the end of the box by a foot or so. ARGH!
Language is Not Work Safe, nor for children's ears in these videos.
Run 5, for all of the money. I added some tire pressure for the dry conditions. FTD in the regionals to that point was Paul K's (or Mike W's?) 50.5, so beating that was my goal. I took a guy on this one who I think was the S.O. of the lady on Run 4.

Launch had way too much wheel hop and slip, but I prefer that to bogging which happens below 4000ish rpm. It's not obvious, but the first right turn is pure oversteer until I was pointing at the bus stop, then added throttle to control it. I started to feel myself pushing too hard in the slalom so I started talking to myself to not clip another cone in the slalom like the fourth run. I was too slow / gentle on the throttle at the bottom of the course in the offset gate. I forced myself to get the braking right and late apex the left hand leaner cone around the light stand. I used less throttle in the right hander before the left hand hairpin to not spin again, and after I started to understeer towards the start line, I begged the car to turn in the hairpin second gear corner! More controlled oversteer through the next four cones / gates and into the stop box with inches to spare to the outside cone.
So I was a LITTLE elated with the 50.17 result compared to how the weekend had gone thusfar. :o For me, that was a good time, and a good run with few mistakes, and that's all that I cared about. That made up for the previous day's atrocious result.
I was at the beginning of the run group, and I didn't think it would hold, but thankfully and surprisingly enough, it did. First autoslalom class win in three years, first regional FTD... that was better than I could have hoped for. Klaus, Daniel F, Paul K, Mike W and too many others... PHENOMENAL competitors to play with.
(Thanks to Bill for not signing up for the Regionals... he ran a 49.8. Without a 200lb passenger, of course! That would have increased the weight of his "car" by what... 15%? ;) )

Yeah, thanks Wes.
I like the series with that silver Zed drifting.
Thanks for the props! Even with all that sliding (and worn street tires) I managed to secure top spot for my ST2 class with a 53.8s run!
