Solo 1 Radar Gun ...busted

hi guys,
so i took apart the radar gun, and from what it looks like the gun took a nasty impact on the trigger switch ...thus impacting the trigger and breaking the trigger and microswitch that controls the gun....

so the gun is toast ...and is out of warrenty..so its junk....

so this gun lasted a whole of about 7 solo 1 events in total before being broken...

in any case this shows that when you have things that people have no personal interest in..things get busted quick...

that being said..i will not be buying things for solo 1 to use again.. and have learned an expensive lesson.

That does indeed suck. Unfortunatelly I have had similar experiences when loaning stuff out. People just don't take the same care when the item isn't theirs. Shame.

Adam, can you bring it to Shannonville. I'd like to have a look at it and see if we can salvage it. I have access to various electronic components, switches, microswitches, etc. and am handy with a soldering iron. It's worth a shot.

he he..that being said...we melted geo's temp probe the other day trying to measure header temp...

though in our defence he did say it measures to 1400 deg.....

when it caught on fire at 423deg c ...i knew 1400 was a bit off :)

geo...your probe is fixed..i repotted it with a very high temp potting that we use at work...

Caius is right Adam. Don't get too bummed out yet. If its just a micro switch, then that should be easy to fix.

I remember my old business partner set to chuck out a couple of $600 two way radios that didn't work. I disassembled them, located a broken trace for the antenna mount, and had the repair completed in about ten minutes at no cost.
