Avon Tech R Tires??

Just wanted to hear some opinions about this tire. Autocross/lapping days is what I am looking to do. Doing some search, seems like the "Tech R" is the "older" version, and the Tech RA is the new version..

Anybody used these?

i used tech r tires size 205 50r15 on civic sir. they were designed to be used on stock 6 to 6 1/2" rims specifically for scca rules. very stiff side walls- have someone mount them who knows what they're doing.

very durable tire.

i still have 2 on one set of rims for the rear and run newer tires on the front.

heavy tire.

good all around for solo II and i've been happy for lapping. i bought them on closeout from tire rack. i would buy 710's next time to try those (lighter carcass tire).

I *thought* that the Tech R was designed for lapping temperatures, and the Tech RA for autoslalom. Could be wrong on that, but double-check before purchase. I'm guessing that you're using Tire Rack?

Well I picked up a new set, rims and rubber, Tech R's, from someone who got it from tire rack about a year ago. They have the head cycled stamp from tire rack, and are new..

Hope they're good for autoX!! I will get to try them out hopefully on Aug 9th at the TLMS autoX.
