I'm witholding my personal thoughts / feelings about "drifting"
The article is a good "primer" though....

Nice article yes, but they have to pop the clutch and turn the wheel to induce oversteer?
They ought to try driving Derek's RX-7. That Red Witch is looser than a ***** ******!!

Hmm, I can't see the parallel; maybe all the drifting smoke is clouding my vision!
But, having driven an RX-7 for years, I've found that inducing oversteer/understeer/4-wheel drifting is much easier with simple throttle and steering wheel modulation at high rpm.
I'm not trying to diss your sport, but I think if you tried Solo 2 even for three events, you'll certainly have a leg up on your competition, because you'll learn a whole lot about weight transfer, tyre-pressure setup, limits of adhesion, etc.
I gather you haven't tried a solo 2 event yet (correct me if I'm wrong) since in one of your other posts you mentioned drifting doesn't require extra tyres. Hmm...I take it you haven't tried a drifting event yet either?
I might come by the event at Brampton to spectate and educate myself. I just hope that you have some way of controlling the spectators who might want to try drifting in the neighbourhood. Also, do you guys plan on cleaning up the rubber left from the skids; or perhaps wetting the parking lot with water first?

the day i went to the skidpad it was SOAKED and had a constant mist...so the tire damage wasn't as great as i had anticipated.
but,i did attend that day w/ my crappy all seasons i had lying around the garage ;)
on top of that, the speed wasn't insanely high like those you see on vids, i'm sure that helped saving tires somewhat :D
no i havne't been to any autox. only been to open track days this year (about 10 this season) + one driftnation day.
you're not dissing my sport, cuz well..it isn't MY sport :) i'm interested in it yes, but after attending one of their classes, i'm leaning towards learning how to GRIP well before i learn how to SLIP :p
tho i must admit it helped a lot on situations on the track where i was losing traction..wasn't as hairy as before i attended that class.
and i'm not part of the organizing bodies of the event, tho i do wish there's no bitterness after this event. the last thing i need is hearing / seeing more harassments from the most popular donut shop customers in this fine city.
