why it is local competitors don't seem to affect the regional results?

I've looked at the results of events 1 and 2 and found the local club results for event #2 and it appears in the regional results regional competitors are awarded full points in a class they weren't otherwise quickest in.

I didn't realise that, but I believe both are run as seperate events so if the club competitor didn't enter the regionals they aren't scored in the regionals. This way the club scoring isn't impacted by regional competitors at a joint event and vice-versa. Although, you would think the regional guys should be faster anyway :)

Did you go to TLMC and kick butt?

At event two TLMC was hosting the provincial for WOSCA after we failed to fined a suitable venue. Thus TLMC already had a regular club event scheduled. As a result competitors weren't entered into the provincial scoring unless they payed an extra entry fee and filled out a provincial entry form. Otherwise they were scored only in the TLMC scoring. You'll find this was not the case for the first and third event.

Marsh: Yeah, the 2nd event there is certainly the case. Of course with the first event being a Regional specific event, there's no club results to look at and also the 3nd event results just got posted yesterday (I wasn't aware when I started the thread these were available).

Now for event #2 do you know if it was the club or the region that required the extra entry fee? (I get the paperwork, how would the registrar/timer know what class to put the local guys in).

Tashko: No, I didn't attend. Just confused with what I saw for Event #2. Curious as to how that happened.

I get the idea of why neither series would want the others scoring affected (though with throwaway events...meh...), but my interpretation of the spirit of each series is significantly different, so I would expect them to be handled differently.

Normally I would agree the regional guys would be winning their classes, but that wasn't the case for event #2 and not likely the case for event #4 either.
