As the title says the Solo I & II shootout sponsored by Subaru Canada and Wheel & Tire Zone is fast approaching. Keep October 5th available as you won't want to miss the opportunity to compete in what has become an annual event for the Solo Ontario community.

We are once again running at the Mosport DDT facility utilizing both the skid pad section of the parking lot and the upper half of the DDT track proper. If you haven't attended an event of this caliber before then you will not want to miss out.

All competitors will run the course several times. PAX values will be used to compare times with the top 2 qualifiers from each root group (i.e. A family, B family, C family and Mod - actually only one from Mod will advance) advancing to the finals. 2 vehicles supplied by Subaru Canada equipped with rims and tires from Wheel & Tire Zone will then be used by the top qualifiers to determine the " Top Gun ".

Lunch will be provided, on site by Wendy Smith (Regional Solo II registrar), Dash plaques will serve as a lasting momento of the day, draws will be performed for prizes and trophies will be awared for top qualifier, top novice qualifier and the top 3 winners of the shootout.

Get you registration information to Wendy Smith to guarantee your spot. Email wendy@ racerrobb.com.

Shootout participation is open to all Soloists that have scored 95 points or better at a Solo I or II event and have been series registered or event scored.

Don't delay your entry as it will be one of the premier events of the Ontario Solo community.

Would I have to use the same car I got 95+ points with?

I qualified but I can't make it due to prior commitments (drinking on a beach in Cuba). Can I sell my spot to someone who didn't qualify?:D

I'll be next door at the PCA event! May drop bye to get a free lunch from Andrew!:D

The driver qualifies, not the car so bring any weapon to the shoot out you wish. It just has to meet the requirements of the Solo II rule book in any class you would like to contest.

Lunch will be available for non-competitors but there will be a additional payment required.

Since the driver qualifies, no you can't sell your spot :>)

Too bad the rules say I can only enter once cause after qualifing at every event I'm sure I could find 7 different classes to run and improve my chances of making the final 7!!

Blur maybe you'll get lucky and we'll have to run the upper DDT backwards!!:D
If it rained that might be good for me-then I'll be FWD and everyone else in class will be RWD;)

Do you have to do anything in the email other than state your intentions that you are coming?

Of course it's going to rain! It always @#$% rains! And Victor manages to beat me by 0.1 stinking seconds in an AWD car !@#$#@#$@#$$.... sigh... but I'm not bitter.

Marsh, don't I recall you saying AWD/FWD/RWD it makes no difference......................I'm still faster then everyone else???????????

Kidding aside,,,yes indeed rain is on the horizen....... and i have yet to take advantage of my AWD all year.................Muhawwawwwww

In the dry it's true that I don't think it matters what your drive layout is (given a good supension). But foul weather changes everything.

And i'll take a FWD ITR over almost anything in the wet including many AWD cars. They just undesteer even more.

Marsh, your lude should be pretty good in the wet with softer springs, yes no?

Krispy.......not a huge fan of AWD

Well it's more of a tire and hp issue. My car handles well in the wet. But if you touch the gas you get insane wheel spin (and corresponding understeer). Normally the thing my car accelles at is corner exit, but in the rain it's the complete opposite. And with this weather it starts to become questionable if streets are better too? I just hate that we get the rain at the same time that tires are getting old bald and hardened. Frustrating time of the year.

I vote no rain.

you guys don't know from rain! Try driving around in a super seven, when the car starts to fill up with water, like you're in a fricking bath tub. eh Rob?

Ron - bringing a wet suit - not a fire suit.

Ron, you should have SEEN Rob at Shannonville last year at the HADA Shannonville Solo 1 weekend. There was absolutely torrential downpours and Rob went out there on the track, despite the 6'' deep puddle right across the track in turn 3 of Fabi, with a set of old school goggles on and blasted around the track on what I assume where his usual bald Hoosiers. When he came in, his Seven was literally a bath tub. I haven't laughed that hard in years!

Didn't a FWD car set FTD at last year's Shoot-Out? Must have been the driver :p Of course Andy's car was equipped with brand new Yok 032R's so it was definitely a good "cheater" car for the day.

Thanks, Doug. Is it pretty easy to find the exact spot when I get there?

Here is a silly question...Assuming you have qualified...95%+ at a regional event, can you just show up or is it manditory that you per-register:confused:

Still unlikely to participate.. but like to tease myself with a glimmer of hope:rolleyes:

As you travel north there is a large billboard for Mosport. THAT IS NOT THE TURN.

Continue north a short way but keep an eye out for a small sign at the side of the road.

Travel east and turn right when the road bends left. You will be able to see the fencing along the road you are turning on. There will likel be a lot of cars arriving.

I'm just teasing with Andy Marsh as last year I had my ass handed to me by both Andy and Dave, not mention Tony.I'll just drive my car and keep my fingers crossed for at least a couple of dry runs!.If its raining my chances are over so I'll just drive for fun-meaning I see I have a place in the drifting community(I know I said the dreaded word).
Well in any case I'm looking forward to it,see you'all tomorow.

To RPR, Shane G and/or others

Pre registration is not a must but it is very helpful to know competitor counts and to allow sorting of registration forms by the chief registrar - yep, Wendy. We are also planning a great lunch for everyone as well and don't want to underprepare.

You will not be disappointed if you attend as the venue is great, the competiton should be tough and it is the last of the Solo Ontario events (other then the banquet, of course) for 2003.

We have some door prize giveaways and a few other surprises that will make the day memorable.

Hope to see lots 'o competitors.
