This is silly but I am wondering what GT2 cars look like, I'm sure they're very very scary.

I just entered my car into the classification database and err it somehow puts me in the GT2 class (wowzy). Engine is the stock 2.4L I4 (160bhp) and has an intake/filter and a 4-2-1 exhaust. I did check off no emissions/cat-less though. Other than that it's adjustable arms, coilovers and car being gutted fairly well (i checked off 'race weight' as 2680lbs with me (197lbs) in it and more than half a tank of gas). Damn...

I've been told by Scot (can alignment) my car should probably be in GT4 maybe GT3 but probably GT4.

Just a newb trying to get involved with some solosprint events :) Looking to go beyond just open lapping/track days.

If you look at the event results, you can see what types of cars are in GT2 (or any other class).

Okay I see some silvias in there but silvias come with the 2 liter turbo more powah.

Well, I'll see I guess. :)

So, again silly question but, it goes from GT4 to GT1 (progressively more modified) or the other way around? I know these are newb questions. I didn't quite see on the site explanation of classifications. Can you point me in the right direction.

Send an email to ccc@soloontario.com and give them all the info including car, year and all mods. They will be able to assist you in classifying your car.

GT1 is higher performance than GT4. Check the solosprint rules and regulations from here http://www.casc.on.ca/solo1.php. The last page or so shows some example starting handling classes.

The Solosprint season is over for this year, but this will give you ample time to figure out which class you want to be in next year and how your modifications affect your class. Also plan to sign up for the solosprint school early next year. It's a great bargain and even better learning experience.

Thanks, it was in one of the PDF manuals. Cleared up now. Cool stuff.

160hp @ 2800lbs with adjustable suspension sounds like a GT2 car to me. I hope you realize there is an entire block of classes above GT; SGT.

One thing i can tell newbs to solosprints is that you WILL be classed correctly. Whether you do well or not is not up to your car, it is up to you and if you lose it is your fault. :)

LoL, No worries. Them there cars would be SGT (SuperGT) categories. In regular GT you'll be competing against slower, less powerful cars like this one with the custom rear wing....:D

I did not realize the adjustable cams, stock cams gt3 140hp, now that class of gt2 is on uber tires. Depending how the tire rules change for next year, you can lower class by running less grippy tires

You might be thinking of the "GT Sprints", in which case, those might be "GT2" cars ;). But in SoloSprint, the classes are all different .

The rules need to be followed in order to avoid a miss-classing. My car was GT2 class when i started this series, and its a 100hp civic hatch made 17 years ago... Things like coilovers, weight reduction (measured without the driver) and modified transmission can push your class up very quick, even when you have stock power. After following the rules more closely, and running non-uber tires, my civic drops to GT4.

Go thru the rules... you will be busy for a long time :)
