With the winter just around the corner, I wanted to enrol my girlfriend in one of those accident avoidence / defensive driving / skid control schools.

She agreed on the condition that I attend one with her. Any recommendations on a good school in the upcoming weeks?

Thanks for your help.

The MCO has about 5 winter driving schools per year near Ottawa. We've instructed everyone from newly licensed to performance rally drivers. See www.mco.org for details.

you might want to check out the bmwcca website since it's entirely possible they hold some kind of winter car control school.

I don't know the name, but there's a skid control school on Bronte Rd in Oakville, just south of the QEW on the west side. If you happen to be in the area... I believe they have FWD and RWD cars as well.

I'm taking my girlfriend to the first snow school, hopefully next year I can convince her to attend one of the BMW schools.

I recommend www.carcontrolschool.com . I took all 4 of their courses.
I was so impressed I bought gift certificates so everyone in my family would take the car control school course. I've talked about 12 friends and co-wokers into taking the course and they were all very impressed and told their friends to take it etc....

After practicing with them so many times I eventually became one of their in-car instructors. I'm a rookie, almost all the other instructors have decades of racing experience. Some of them are retired (from work) but they still love going to the track.
Neil he just bought a new 320 HP Mustang and Ken just bought a 300 HP Subaru STI (his previous car is an Integra Type R). These old guys are awesome drivers and they love to teach the car control school courses.
Read their bio on the web site.

What makes this course great are the fantastic instructors, the fact that you get lots of practice in your own car and the very reasonble price. It's $150 for this 8 am to 5 pm 1 day course that includes lunch.

Both october courses are already fully booked.
But the courses on Nov. 2 and Nov. 9 are still available.
