Okay, hate to be the voice of doom... Back in the 1960s/early 70s, my dad used to race a Sunbeam Alpine at Mosport. Well, he bought some rims for it that had been widened by cutting them in half and welding a strip in the centre. One of them came apart on the track and obviously he had a wreck. Dislocated his shoulder and ended his racing career.

Hell you'd probably pay 3/4 for the labour what you'd pay for a decent set of rims!

AKK, Adam don't try this. First steel rims are cheap anyway from any of the stock car suppliers. Grissdale can get Aero or Barrett, for a good price, although they are a little on the heavy side.

I highly recomend a Canadian wheel company in the Vancouver area, Kodiak. Really, really, really light and strong. Ask for Daryle, and say you are in Canada and get a Canadain price. Cheaper than Panasport C8s and I think lighter. CNC centers and they spin there own rims now. pretty much any size and backspacing. I have them on my seven.
