Hey all,

I recently purchased a set of EBC Green pads (front and rear) for my RSX. I've had them for about 2000KM and although I'm not very impressed with their bite they'll do fine until I replace them with some decent street/track pads for next season. Unfortunately, I'm currently experiencing some light to moderate brake shudder. At first I thought it was because the pads were too abrasive, but now I believe my problem is due to the fact I did not bed the pads properly. The RSX is my daily driver and I'm forced to use the brakes lightly most of the time since I pimarily drive in traffic - no lapping days or Solo competition yet.

I found the following article very informative: link (http://www.kingmotorsports.com/stoptech_tech_myths.asp). I will try performing the proper re-bedding procedure as described in the article to relieve the problem. If that doesn't work, I'm afraid I will need to have the rotors turned.

EBC Green Stuff are one of the best pads for autocrossing and maybe even a little Solo 1 in a light car.

I was the "king of warping rotors" but after much reading, especially the Stop Tech site after Tony K posted the link, I've been much more enlightened about my evil ways.

Stick with the EBC's, machine the rotors you have--it's the easiest fix--and bed them in according to Stop Tech. Then make sure you leave lots of room behind you when you touch the brakes on the highway so you don't get rammed from behind due to the awesome braking power of the pads.

It seems like EBC's may also need to be used really hard for long, now and again to keep the friction co-efficient up. My fifteen or so laps at the Shootout has me noticing this rejuvenation of braking power on the street.

Well I re-bedded my pads late last night on some regional roads, and I'm happy to report noticeable improvement. I think I will try one more bedding session before I have the rotors turned. It isn't the cost, just inconvenient - if I can get away with re-bedding I can save the trouble.

I was aware of the issue of having other vehicles catch up so I tried to find a little used road. Sure enough after three stop/starts I had another driver up my tail. :( So I slowed to let him pass and resumed with another 8 stop/starts and enjoyed that familiar scent of burning brake pads... "I love the smell of brake pads in the morning." :) With appologies to Col. Kilgore (Apocalypse Now).
