i had a great time - it was nice meeting some new people way up in the tundra of barrie.

this was by far my best event. i even got a plaque for 3rd place! (yah yah, there was only 4 people in my class).

after "adjustments for r-compound tire" - i was 0.07 behind steven tong.... watchout mr mini! i'm coming for you on my awesome kumho 712's :p :p (that was severe sarcasm).

andrew was co-driver on my car and won the class. what a jerk.

i think i came in 10th or 11th overall of 42 contestants. i'm officially out of 'middle of the pack' :D

Congrats! I wish I could have been there but my flight out to Colorado got in the way. I'll be back for the last CCC event next weekend!

BTW while your all stuck in traffic this morning I've got a 2 hour drive up to Aspen though the mountains, not a cloud in the sky forecast is sunny and 28 and I've got a mustang convertible as a rental.

Yeah, it was a good day overall, kinda cold but at least the rain held off. I think I ended up 7th and 17th overall (I ran 2 cars). Ended up with 2 plaques; 2nd in FWD2 for my co-drive car (buddy's RSX, he came first) and 3rd in FWD1 in my car, Damn you Tom and Hanif for showing up! *lol*

I'm glad you guys had a good time, should be a good season next year, we're aiming for 8-9 events.

Yep it was a fun day-kinda nice having nothing to run for except fun.Course was really really tricky in the cold,2 big spins for me in the first 2 runs:o ,car needs a more work for sure, went for a ride in Hannif's and it sticks like s**t to a wall considering the cold temps.
Of course I wasn't the only 1 spinning, seemed to be the general theme of the day.
Who got ftd? hey stewpiddass Lisa says you have a # for honda parts in quebec, wanna pass it along(complet with web site/e-mail if possible)

Hanif got FTD, pretty good considering the SAE car was there...

Tom, the place is called Chassel (actually it's Centre de Recyclage Chassel) in St-Hubert Québec. It's a Honda / Acura wrecking yard.

Phone # is 1-800-363-6677
or try 1-514-676-8021

Results are up folks... Holy crap I beat Stephen Tong!!!

I stand corrected, I ended up 8th and 17th overall

Andrew, congrats on FTD on street tires, with a borrowed car none the less!

I had wanted to try my new street tires, the Comp TA KD, they work pretty well, very stiff sidewall, but still have a good ride on the street.

It was a great day, I got to try the green monster 2, as well as Tod's car, both were a lot of fun.

OMG! I know Hanif is a great driver, but how did a FSAE car not get FTD? Did it brake down, or were they pushing it around the course?

What school was it?

Murray I've beeten 3 different SAE cars in the Prelude (once when stock). Most of the drivers are completely green.

For the most part the course was wet dirty and very cold-put a light short wheelbase sae car on slicks and you have a very difficult to drive little beastie.I watched the driver of that thing and he had very good car control skills so it wasn't the driver that wasn't quick.
Thanks for the phone #'s there stewpiddass,I guess I'll mosey on over to the twin lakes site and see how the I did.

Hanif did this without any PAX help, on a run that wasn't all that pretty either.

One of the SAE drivers was clearly better than the other.

BTW, the car was from U of Guelph.

Ahh, not exactly the fastest SAE car out there. Although we were all very impressed. That's Guelphs first car. One hell of a first effort, but VERY heavy.

Wow, for a new team it's great that Guelph is getting some testing time. Race durability is something that Western needs more of, but competition scares everyone else on the team and Hoosier slicks aren't cheap!

I have to see if I can get my hands on the Fanshawe SAE car. After all, I still have one of their helmets. :D

Maybe it would be a bit more competetive than my 25 HP, 3-working-cylinder, stock suspention, 160 000 mile F-SuperStock beast.

Foxbat,Hannif wasn't the only one to out run the sae car as lots of other guys beat their times by quite a wide margin. But I guess your right Hannif is a god-an ugly one apparently but a god nonetheless:D
Andrew I was impressed with you in the jetta, pretty quick considering the tires, and then you go and slam me WTF?(joking of course!)I might have been slow(not!)but considering the car setup(that suckers got to have nearly -4 camber up front!)and springs WAY softer than I want, stock rear bar still in place and the fact its the first time out and the first time in a fwd in nearly 3 years-I think the result was OK.My wife says piss off as she did quite well to,did a 54 but tagged a cone.
Lookout next year, once the springs of choice are installed and ride heights/corner weights sorted and the rest of the items addressed it'll be fast-maybe too fast for me-nahh!;)

Tom, the SAE car came in 2nd overall with a 52.97... well the one driver did, the other was way down the pack.

Andrew, it's funny you say that about Foxbat... I was thinking the same thing, I have no idea who that is...

I had a 53 flat so I guess I didn't outrun that little thing after all, still it wasn't that impressive-looked very hard to control.I on the other hand was stunning to watch!:D
Who says you can't drift a fwd'er eh?evenHannif gave it a go when I was along for the ride.

andrew1984
10-23-2003, 07:58 PM
bah, i always drift the bug! thats why its sooooooooo fast!;)

Andrew drifting is when the rear wheels are sliding-you bug just slid the front wheels around the course! It does a great tricycle impression though:D

There was a green Camaro there? It's not in the results.
