What tires is everyone using for Solo1? I have Toyo's on the Camaro right now but would like to hear what other people are using. Especially those other nose heavy domestics.

I really would like to hear your comments on the traction and wear of the tires you people are running.

Rick,

I have a set of Kumho VictoRacers 265/45/16 used for 10 Solo 2 events. They still have a lot of life left in them. They are mounted on 1997 5 star chrome Camaro rims.

PM me if you are interested in purchasing them before I advertise.

Rick,

2 years ago I ran the Kumho Ecsta V700s (275/40/17). They had good grip, but the sidewalls were very soft for a nose-heavy car like the Mustang. I had to rotate the tires continuously to avoid cording the outer edge (this despite ~2.5-3 deg of camber). The sidewalls caused the car to feel like it was wandering through long sweepers. They were also a disaster in the wet.

I then ran the Yoko A032R H compounds (same size). These tires are heavier but have a much stiffer sidewall. They were not as grippy as the V700s but had better turn-in, steering feel, responsiveness... and they wore evenly no matter how badly I abused them. And the Hs never overheated.

I then ran the new Yoko S compounds this spring. They have noticeably better grip, but will overheat slightly (they recover quickly) if pushed too far beyond the limit. Wear was almost as good as the Hs despite running in warmer weather (perhaps I was just smoother).

I would like to try out the Toyos, but they are so much more expensive than the Yokos that I can't be bothered giving them a test.

Kumho Victoracers which I prefer significantly to Kumho Ecstas, even though the Victoracers are the older design. Grip is good and they seem to be predictable. Will outlast Hoosiers and (I believe) are much less sensitive to recurrant heat cycles. Toyos sound interesting shaved but they are pricey. If you really think you are going to put a lot of laps on the tires then the Yoks or maybe the Toyos seem like a good deal but you will give up a bit in outright speed but that all changes in the wet.

What size Toyos do you have and what size rims?
