I see lots of people posting spring rates of 12K as an example.
How does that compare to spring rates in pounds?
How many pounds in 1 K?
What does the K stand for?

12K means 12 kg/mm. It's the metric designation while lbs/in in the imperial version.
the conversion is:
1 Kg/mm = 55.372 lbs/in.
12K would be approx 665 lbs/in!

Not here to stir up sh*t, but if you wanna split hairs, its actually 55.88 in/lbs per KG/mm.
2.2 Lbs per KG, and 25.4 mm per inch. 2.2 * 25.4 = 55.88
