I've heard good things about them as well, however, my header hasn't held up well after only one summer of driving. Maybe he (or a hired hand) was having an off day, but I have numerous 1/8" size patches that have flaked off.

used fireball twice...both times the material came off

on a turbo application

I'm assuming for you guys about the flaking, that you had the header sandblasted first, then ceramic coated by Fireball?

I just got my headers ceramic coated by Quy's in Brampton. it was sand blasted and prepped with metal cleaner before ceramic coat....it's on for about 1 week now, turbo application with EGT's between 1000 - 1600F. Coating is holding up so far...

On turbo applications I only use Fireball's XMC flat black coating, everything else will flake!

Yes, I did the blasting myself, although he said he would hit it again. The areas that have come off, you can see the textured finish of the blasted steel. I'm not so much bitter, just disappointed at the money spent. The only reason I didn't bother complaining was that this was for an engine swap project so it sat in my basement for a year before installation. But I never un-wrapped it from his packaging.

it's going on a 1275 mini, so EGT won't be too extreme. Header is brand new. Thanks to all

I used Fireball's XMC on my turbo hot-side.

Flaked off nearly completely after two or three
heat cycles.

Bad day or not - they booted it.

I gave them the manifold, they cleaned it and prepped it to thier satisfaction..

tried the silver coating...flaked off with 3 races...

gave it back to them they re did it with thier special "black" super coating

it came off in 2 races in big flakes

I just gave up and used heat wrap after that

Used DEI titanium wrap with DEI heat wrap spray-on coating on our turbo MR2. Works very well.

When I worked at LJ Chassis, the custom headers were sent to some place in Brantford just off the 403, I can`t remeber the name but if someone knows how to get hold of Steve Hummel thats where he gets his stuff done and I never saw flaking on his headers ever and the Pro Mod pipes that came in to us after many heat cycles looked like the day they were done

so after a couple of months, lots of tuning and dyno time, my CC'd headers done by Quy's Coating is still holding up well...here's a vid of it on dyno...

Definately try Rob at General Performance Engineering. Get both the inside and the outside coated with the various coating products he supplies.
On a street car, my downpipe has lasted as if just coated for 3 years/100,000km (turbo car).

I have dealt with "Don" the owner many times..he is a stand up guy, and stands behind his work 100%. he has a small shop and put alot of pride into his work. Give him a call or email I am sure he can help. every time I go into his shop he has headers being finished either from V8's, motorcycle (street and racing).
He also has prices listed on his website.

here is a few pics of a few shift knobs he finished for me

The header on our "Locost" is holding up quite well. I would recommend High tech as well.

Agreed. I had some exterior corrosion on the DP flanges that weren't wrapped and got hit by salt spray from me driving it on GTA roads all winter long. But under the painted header wrap, it was perfect.

Same with someone else's header/up pipe/down pipe that I bought.
