Okay, I'd like to get a clarification of how the CNAC rules will be interpreted for roll-bars in CS next year. The interpretation will have a significant impact on my car preparation and maybe even determine if I will compete regionally next year at all.
My Miata has a Hard Dog Sport bar in it. I do not believe it would meet the technical requirements of Appendix B because A) I probably wouldn't be able to meet the 2" helmet clearance rule without reclining the seat to an inappropriate angle for competition (although I could probably get around that because it is "as close to the roof as possible") and B) the rear stays are not completely straight, as stipulated in Appendix B, Section 4.
That being said, I would not expect to be able to claim the -2 prep points for the bar. However, is it going to be considered a "body structure modification" and move me into CSS? If so, would this also apply to people running Miatae with "style bars" as well? I'd also wonder whether or not the Hard Dog Hard Core meets the rear stay rule with respect to being within 35 degrees of vertical.
