Just another unneeded technology that requires blind faith from drivers.....

I feel a little bad for Volvo, that is really embarrassing in front of a crowd.
But I am also glad it happened, the technical limitations of these type of systems is now established in the public eye even by those who support them.
If it can fail during a very public demonstration that was likely practiced and tested numerous times to avoid this kind of mishap, then it can fail any time.
It is a slippery slope if we allow the machine to take command of the situation in a highly variable environment such as driving. I realize we have planes that fly themselves at higher speeds, but there are far fewer obstacles in the sky and much more reaction time. And even those systems make mistakes, and when the pilots have placed too much faith in the machines judgment they second guess their own sometimes leading to tragic results.
The driver should always be responsible for control.
I will get off my soap box now. Damn that is funny:D.

Hey, I actually like Volvo's.:D Never owned one, but I have worked on them before. Nice cars I just hate the idea of something doing the driving for people.
