I've decided the solo II forum needs a smack talk thread too so we can talk about our winter projects and scare our competition.

Well, with the vast changes coming to the rule book for next year, and its unlikely it'll all be sorted out anytime soon. I'll likely just run Solo I next year. The rules there will be more stable for the time being and easier to prep a car for. Maybe I'll do another full season in 2005, but for next year I may only attend a couple of events.

I'm with Pat,I'll focus on solo1 and hope to make it out to few solo2 events.Hopefully next year I'll have a choice of vehicles to play with.The crx is better suited to track work but I've decided to put together another corolla-this time a coupe for the street using most of my suspension from the hatch.I just bought a complete 1st gen supercharged engine to power it so it should be a fun little toy.
With the drifting thing starting I think I'll join that band wagon,after seeing cash prizes for such a pitifull display of driving talent in Brampton I figure I could run some of them and help pay for the real racing.:D
Sadly I likely have a better chance of sponsership help with drifting then with a real form of competition.
Now back to the smack talk-whatever class I'm in with whichever car I bring I'm gonna kick some ***!

all i can do is try to be more competitive this year...hopefully simon can too.

You'd better watch out JoeT, you and I are in the same class next year so no more free ride for you!... I've got big plans for the Civic next year too, maybe a new air freshener and some of those cool windshield washer lights!!!

Ya I've seen that before, it would be really funny to go back to a Ford dealer for an oil change with that installed.
Still that would be over 10K CDN for the swap I can build a 400+HP Zetec motor for that.

1.8T in a Focus? Geez, if you're going to go to all that trouble, might as well stuff a V8 in. I saw a Focus hatch with a Mustang 4.6L V8 and RWD on the web somewhere, but now I can't find it... But it was extremely cool!
However, since I can't find that, here's a Northstar V8-powered FWD VW Golf (http://www.cwstuning.com/gallery/Coupe-DeGolf?&page=1) that I found instead. Be sure to watch the videos!
Or, if you're worried about weight, at least use a 4G63... They have 200cc over the 1.8T and can handle over 400 HP on stock internals for the stronger 6-bolt motors (like the one in my garage.)
And, just for the hell of it, here's a Talon with a 4G63 in the back (http://www.nfimports.net/forums/uploads/post-8-1066279599.jpg).

The 1.8T can handle ~400hp on stock internals. More than that and it gets likely that somehting bad will happen. There was a guy in Texas (Billy Tylaska) putting 460 to the wheels on stock internals. He finally threw a rod at around ~50,000 miles. He was one of the first guys with a big hp 1.8T and proved that there is quite a large safety margin for the stock bits. Because of him there are many people who own 300hp daily drivers with little worry.
Simon, it was more of a joke that I posted that link. It's a lot of money but a funny concept like the Northstar powered golf or a Chevy powered Datsun.

Yeah... Y'all better watch out for the family sedan... I've bought myself a bunch of stuff: "Tuned by Razo", "STI", "Forge", "Maxim Works", "Amsoil", "Tein", "JIC", "Cusco" and a big H emblem. When I get all these stickers on the doors, it will be hell to pay for some..... Yeah, wistle tips too for that added turbo boost.

stickers? they dont make you faster, but if you cut your fenders and weld in the m3 gills, you'll cut 3 seconds on any 40sec + setup.
