The old timers will remember my 95 M3 that ran in solo for a few years, and then in Touring car until last year (the #10 car in my sig). Well, here is the car now ... Carl bought the car this winter, and shoved a 500hp LS6 into it. Car looks like it's a beast:

Well, I'd love it if it was mine, but sadly Carl is the new owner. I get to drive it if we're ever at the track at the same time though ... it was a condition of the sale ;)

Serge: The car is too old for CCTCC this year (10 year model rule, last built in 1999). We built an e46 for Eric, and mine will be built (or bought) for next year. Nothing wrong with M-power, but getting 500hp costs WAY more $$$$.

Very sweet! Nice to see Carl taking good care of it. Had a great time helping you out with the initial build of the "beast". On a side note I didn't see you (but I did see Eric) in the first CTCC event results... Are you driving this season at all?

My car is not yet built ... next year probably. I might do a couple of non CTCC events. Here is the link to our site in case you're curious as to what is happening in our camp: www.8legsRacing.com/default.aspx

Very nice! :D

An LS6 into anything can make it cool ;).

Even a hot pink Barbie car or a Lada Niva! :p

While I don't know the cost of upgrading a BMW engine, it doesn't surprise me that the LS6 route was the cheaper/more practical option.

Really? Aftermarket for producing HP on anything american is FAR cheaper than anything non-american. There's thousands of people taking these things to drag strips all the time. The American-to-German car ratio at a drag strip is probably the same as the German-to-American cost ratio for 500hp.

I seem to recall an article in Compact Sport or something where they took an old buick and a civic and made each of them 500hp. It cost 5,000 on the civic and 500 on the buick.

NICE....awesome power :D. Thanks for the vids. Yea, might be 60 year old push-rod technology but its hard to beat cubic inches and inexpensive parts. I read recently the kits to drop a V8 in the bimmers are getting more and more popular. The vids show why :)

That's what I said: "it doesn't surprise me that it was cheaper".

I just don't know the "specifics" on how much a Bimmer would cost to upgrade. I know exactly what an LSX engine costs to buy, build, upgrade, etc. But I don't know, are we talking ~$5000 more for a BWM engine? ~$10,000 more?? And I'm not talking the Re & Re, I just mean the cold, hard PARTS cost. A few grand, spent wisely, can go a LONG way in an American V8. What would heads/cam(s) cost for a Euro motor?

So you agree with him? :p
