...for the delay getting going this morning, that I caused.
Thanks to all those that manned the brooms that allowed us to get up and running fairly quickly. Also thanks to Paul for bringing me some mementos to add to my grenaded bits collection.
I can't wait to get everything apart and truly assess the carnage. At least it wasn't another transmission.....

sorry for the delay i caused aswell.
Well, i ended up totally smashing the inner end of the drive shaft, and the inner driver in the transmission. i changed the lot, and lengthened the drive shaft (part of the reason why it failed) by a few mills.
my car is back up and running, and il have pics of the destruction soon.

From timing and database problems, to the slippy track , to Y and X group volunteering to triple stint to insure three runs, it was truly a good effort from everyone!
My thanks go out to everyone who swept, sweated in the sun, and made the day a timed run success... and we had a little lapping at the end of the day as a reward.

I know I enjoyed my hour with the kitty litter followed by "volunteering" for my triple stint at station two.;) That said great recovery job by the organizers with getting things back on track and three good sessions for each run group.
I even got a couple more sessions in with the lapping to get more comfortable with the car. All in all a good day.
Once again thanks to all the real volunteers from registration, grid, timing, etc. that make it possible to have a great day in the sun. Oh, and dinner was tastier than usual (guess I should skip lunch more often):D
Great idea on the triple stint. Saved the event IMO.

I would like to send out my thanks to all the competitors/volunteers who worked hard in the crazy heat to sweep and put down oil dry. The event would have not been a success if it was not for these people. I was happy that even though we had trouble at the beginning of the day we were still able to get in 3 runs and an hour of lapping as well.
Once again thank you for making my first organized event a success.

the end of the inner driver (attached to the tranny) is supposed to have a flat end. it now looks castellated, and totally smashed to pieces

If you keep up this hard work, Kevin, we might have to look at the Handling Index of your Saab.
(That is, btw, the highest compliment the CCC can give. ;) )

Or that hp rating.
190km/h is what my Mustang is doing with 13lb/hp. That Saab has 18lb/hp and pulls the same speed!?

the 160 is a bit underrated running on 94 (the saab system will set boost levels off of knock, so better octane = less knock = more boost = more power :P ) its probabally closer to 180. also, because the whole car was hand built, every one has a hand built boost controller (Or APC as saab calls it) so whoever built the APC set the potentiometer levels to what they felt was good. mine is a bit more "sporty" but its not quite as good as a red box (the uprated APC)

im just barely keeping up in my class!
at TMP katie beat me, and shes in T3! Ive got the highest hp and by far the highest Tq, but the worst handling for T2. however, il be T1, on streets, next event, as the car is getting some mods done in the break.

Kevin, you put the fun into every event that you come to. I'm impressed with your spirit, not to mention your ability to keep your car running!
The NX should be back in fine form by the next event. I was running the new rad last weekend, but it had been damaged during shipping and is over an inch out of square. To top it off, it was allowing seepage through the rad cap so we were back to overheating at the end of the day. Phew!

Ditto on the attitude comments! :) I gained new respect for Saab and Kevin's driving riding with him at the Solosprint School. IMHO, the look of the car is more of an acquired taste. ;) What's the story of the drive shaft? Did you have a spare, or were you actually able to find a new/remanufactured one?

Thanks guys! i just try to keep positive, and ring the neck of my 20 year old car as best i can :D
Driveshaft wise, i have essentially 2 parts cars in/at my house. one is the car i was building as a track car, until i looked at expenses, and realized i couldn't afford it, and the second cars worth of parts are from the 3 parts cars i have scrapped out at home. i also work at a shop that services only saab cars, and we have just about all the used parts i could ever need.
i went home, went to the basement, found a driveshaft, and took the inner driver off of one of the 4 trannys i have sitting around (1 is in bits, one is unknown quality, one has a seized pinion, and one is rebuilt, and will be going in the car when i swap engines) then i went to work.
same kinda thing for the problems i was having with my intercooler hoses at TMP. when i got home, i went into the basement, dug through 3 milk crates full of intake hoses, and took out what i needed, cleaned the lot, and put on the hoses, aswell as bringing a spare the next day.
having lots of parts is nice

And I thought I had a lot of Camaro parts!! :o
(although I have run home during lunch from MIR to get a couple parts before, ie: a power steering pump, when Shawn Cormier needed one a couple years ago).
Yes, plenty of spares are invaluable in a time of need! :D
