View Full Version : Is this a good part for Solo-II?
Looking at picking up one of these:

I understand these things are extremely popular in "import drags" and they do wonders for a car's performance. Do you guys think it would work well in a solo-II application? :D

The problem with new performance parts like this is they really haven't endured the amount of testing that most parts that have been available for a long time have.
I think you should be one of the groundbreakers. Jump on this part and see if it gives you the same (or better) performance the fellow that is selling it got.
You might be pleasantly surprised. If not, well, at least you got ripped off.
I heard these only work well if you fill up your trunk with them ;)

I can vouch for these 100%. They will definetly not improve your times at all. And installation on a VW is a PITA. You need, a couple of adapter pebbles to make it fit!

It won't work for AutoX as you have to remove all loose objects from your car. Now if you get that JDM quick try cement you know the Type R version and use it to attach it to the hood of the car for sure it would work!!
But my buddy said I can use my JDM Spoon duct tape to secure it under the passenger seat! I still don't understand why that won't work?

I would equate this mod to adding N2O.
Unsafe if not respected.

The problem w/ these JDM rocks is that they don't handle the abuse that a standard US-spec rock would take. The Domestic spec rocks are specifically mined for racing purposes from the Canadian Shield where the high iron content makes them stronger and more heat resistant. You've heard about oil breaking down at high temps.? Well the last thing you want is for your JDM spec rock to turn into gravel or sand when you overheat it.
That being said though, JDM rocks are light weight and can be thrown farther at your competitors. This gives you a bit more time to run away in case you don't hit 'em on your first shot.
Buy Canadian and support your country's economy!!
