Just wanted to give fellow CASC members an early heads up that Chump Car has announced their 2011 schedule (Sent out earlier today by email), and it includes 2 Ontario dates in 2011 at Shannonville and Calabogie!

So get your beaters ready, hopefully with the more advanced notice, more teams will have cars ready!

My team is thinking about hitting 4 chumpcar events this coming year. Should be a great year. That is of course once we build our new car - thats the best part!

So far its Shannonville, Calaboogie and Nelson Ledges with our fourth race yet to be decided.

I now have only three race tracks I work at - Mosport, Mid-O, and Nelson Ledges. That 25 Hour Enduro looks REALLY appealing :D

I second this motion. I have cash in hand, truck/trailer and flexible schedule to help with logistics. Can get dirty but not certified mechanic.

Yeah for sure, So far scheduling wise it looks like i should be good for that weekend, even though it's almost a year away:D Next time i talk to Steve i'll mention it. Do you have any plans for other races? Hopefully i can do a 3 hour regional this up coming year also.
I still have a new water pump for the car that i'll pass on to you in the future.

Shannonville & Calabogie for sure but already have the full team. VIR 24 hrs is the week before Calabogie. Wonder about Beaverun in PA - not that far. Nelson Ledges for sure.

Is there a required number of drivers per team?

RedRabbit Racer

the minimum is supposed to be four drivers. for a 24 hour race more is better and shares the cost a bit better.

I'd be interested in a rent a ride, too. Summers off, so I've got lots of flexibility, and a fair degree of mechanical skill.

my team "mopar 4 life" 01 neon wil be back for 5 races this year. We are hitting up charolette, shannonville, beaver run, nelson ledges, and calabogie.

We might ditch the "dukes" them and paint the car plum crazy purple.:)

Its very disappointing to hear that the Calabogie event is not happening after all - apparently the track will be given to another group on the scheduled weekend.

Received this e mail this AM.

Well... it appears that Calabogie Motorsports Park doesn't really want crap can racing at their facility, after all.

First, I received a confirming e-mail from the Track GM... then I received the following:

"Our 2011 schedule is very close to being finalized and I wanted to advise you that unfortunately we’re unable to fit Chump Car in on the August 6th & 7th weekend as originally hoped."

So, we've had to drop Calabogie from the 2011 schedule

It sucks that the event is at TMP... It's close to home and I would love to enter a car. Unfortunately, TMP and Haldimand County will never receive a cent of my money. Even if it is in a roundabout way. Entry fee paying for track rental.

I guess we will see you at Shannonville.

If there is interest in running an event in Quebec there is the Big Sanair oval with a roadrace infield that sits unused alongside the Sanair roadrace/dragstrip/small oval at St. Pie de bagot 40 miles from Montreal.

If there is interest I am sure a deal could be made with Jacques Geurtin.

The track was used for Indy cars on the oval and Motorola Cup using the infield and oval.

P.M. welcome from anyone involved in organization.

Would like to, but probably won't be able to get a car together in time. Too busy.

Unless, a roundy round guy I know sells me his engine less chassis for dirt cheap.

This might be an option for those wanting to enter LE MONS or CHUMP CAR events.

Often old Roundy Round chassis, or even complete cars sell for scrap value or less. In most cases the cage is already there.

Very true Dr. Smooth! There are alot of cars currently competing at different tracks that would be eligible, even as is. Stud cars need minimal changeover also (A good use for them in the summer)

I'd definitely be interested in running the TMP event as an arrive and driver. Do you need a racing license? Which teams might be looking for a driver? I have quite a few laps in at TMP from lapping days.

So browsing the rules they issue their own license with the completion of a driving school the day before. It's 75 for the school and license. I'm definitly in if someone's looking for a driver with experience at TMP and able to supply a bit of money to run.

It would be nice to see some Regional guys come out to the TMP event to boost the numbers. ChumpCar does have provisions for an Exception Class and its a fairly decent price for 14 hours of track time. PM me for more info or go to the ChumpCar website and forums.

Chump Car has updated their supplemental regs (http://www.chumpcar.com/event_pdfs/Toronto%202011%20Supplemental%20Rules.pdf) for the August event at TMP, to allow any CASC Production/Sedan cars to race in this event as part of the exception class (no prize money or official prizes, but 14hrs of racing across 2 days - and a chance to try the series before you build a $500 crap can racer).

sounds like a good plan except for the regional event on the same weekend
