Ewwwww :p That's ugly! And the jury's still out on a unit body truck. I'll give it a year before I pass judgment.

I'm with Marsh, its pretty ugly in an aztec kinda a way.I haven't been to keen on honda's approuch over the last 3-4 years, toyota is kicking their ass in sheer model range and the fact that the latest redisigns haven't been to pretty isn't helping.
Honda isn't to far off in the design concept imo as the majority of big extended cab truck owners rarely use them as trucks,my guess is if a decent 3.5v6 vtec is in that thing it will certainly beat the domestics at the pump and depending on weight should out perform those big tanks from the big 3.

I believe they are about to redo the Alliston Honda assembly plant slightly to accomodate this new truck/suv.

It does like ugly, imo.

it's gotta be good to compete with the Toyota Tundra and Nissan Titan. Or maybe they're not trying to compete with these real trucks at all, since they're calling it a Sport Utility Truck...lame.

I kinda like it too but it isn't a full size like the Titan or Tundra :(

Anyway, I'm glad the Japanese are getting into the truck game. They just need to make sure that the engines they use in their full sized models have most of their torque low low down in the RPM range to make them really worth considering.

Yes, we will be building it in Alliston alongside the MDX and Pilot, so I'd say the 3.5 is a good bet. V8 would be nice though...

I was told over a year ago by the local dealership that honda provided GM with small engine technology-in trade for GM's diesel know how.
So the question is why would you want a diesel in that thing, certainly not going to hook up the 5th wheel to it.
Second question is when is GM going to apply honda quality to its small cars?(allready use toyota for the vibe)

yeah, that deal was done back in '98, GM got Honda V6's (I think it's in the Saturn Vue already, should be coming in some cars soon too) and Honda got Isuzu Motor technology for little trucks on the other side of the pond.

No, the jury has already voted at least four times: Volkswagen Pickup, Subaru BRAT, Dodge Rampage and Subaru Baja.

On the other hand, GM has a neat little thing called the Tornado in Mexico that is kinda sweeet...

A Honda truck???

Nissan may have just upped the ante with the all new '05 Pathfinder & Frontier.

My Nissan bias aside, I worked for years as a contractor at Honda Of Canada Mfg in Alliston. It's an amazing... I have yet to see a cleaner more efficient manufacturing plant (automotive or otherwise).

What I mean is a unit body that has comparable payload and towing specs to the competition. It's still considered by many in the industry to be the holy grail of chassis design. If Honda is succesfull you'll see a lot of others following.

BTW for those that don't know it's the same platform as the MDX sport ute.

SUT eh? I'm still waiting for some overzealous marketing dept. to brand something a "Sport-Luxury Utility Truck" so we can all laugh at them.

This thing... Hmm... Looks like an H2 wannabe. As if the H1 wannabes weren't bad enough. I do like those skylights though although they probably butcher the chassis rigidity to put them in. But hey, it's no sports car.

Doh! Aww, I thought I was all smart and stuff for coming up with that. Way to ruin my self esteem. :(

I guess I'll just have to go make the same joke on another forum. By tomorrow I'll have forgotten all this and think I made it up again. :p
