Hi all. I'm new to these boards, but have joined the pitl events for a couple years now (maybe you remember that slime green neon;))....
Now I don't really want to start anything, but I join the pitl events because they are on Saturday. For personal reasons, I don't race on Sundays, and that's a royal PITA because most clubs ONLY run Sundays. I know many people who prefer the Saturday events, and was wondering if this could be considered....I'd certainly appreciate some discussion on the matter.

Thanks,

Nate...(now driving a black ACR Neon, and looking forwards to auto-xing in a car with 'real' rubber;))

Also, I was wondering what is involved in organizing Club events. For example, insurance/parking lot organization etc. Basically I'm looking for the mundane details that need to be researched before organizing an event.

I would imagine the reason's for sunday events are 2 fold, first is the lot used-perhaps its impossible to use on a saturday because of business hours.Second I would suspect more people have sunday open for play days than saturdays so attendence might suffer for smaller club event/series.

Yes, who can forget Shrek?!

OK, lemme guess, you asked your parents for R-compounds for Christmas, and now that you have them, you're dying to find a place to use them?:p That would be very impressive, heh heh. Or did you get a whole new car as well?

Anyway, all of the PITL events are on Saturdays this year, according to the Wired calendar.

Other than that, some clubs have the odd event on a Saturday, but like M. Focus, I'm all for double-header weekends all summer.

BTW, did you forget you already had an account here? Your birthday came up on the calendar a while back.;)

traditionally.. solo II events have been on Sundays (this was before sunday shopping)

it could be an organizer thing, could be what's available too

personally.. I enjoy the saturday events.. somehow the weekend
feels longer

being a newbie.. if you like this form of motorsport thing, get involved... help organize

and have direct input on 2005's schedule

:)

mind you... the regional series is based on the clubs scheduling
and IF they want to host a regional event.

Those are the two reasons my club runs Sundays.

Good input;). No, I didn't get R-compounds for Christmas, but I did buy an ACR. Shrek took a hard hit from the rear, and was no longer worth fixing (310k on it). I hope to try the Azenis...unless I can find used 14" R's.:D
I'd LOVE to help in the organization....

It's nice to see that I'm not the 'only' one who prefers Saturdays, but I can see the issues....

Hm...I had thought I was a member of the boards, but couldn't sign on with my 'normal' forum password. I just thought that my memory was going in my old age.;) That was the day I was rearended:(....

The first thing you should do is find a CASC-OR affiliated club that runs solo 2 events and join the club (MSOC, PMSC, OMSC, WOSCA, HADA St.Lac., SCMC COMP, MCO, and TLMC all host Solo 2 events and are affiliated). Go to some club meetings, get to know the good people and be there to help out and get involved in the organization.

In order to get insurance, you need to be a CASC-OR affiliated club (in Ontario specifically).

Marshall has a solo 2 organizers handbook on the WOSCA site, take a look around and see if you can find it...it's a good read.

Too bad about the green machine Nathan. You owe me a ride in the black one.

Running the Yokos again this year?

How about organizing a bi-weekly or monthly Saturday go-kart challenge instead?

Failing that, I've been toying with the idea of impromtu late night Solo 2 events at unannounced sites.

I was thinking that everyone could be given GPS co-ordinates for two or three cones which they must purchase as admission to the fight club, er Midnight S2 club, yeah.

By instant messaging etc., the event is announced and the GPS co-ordinates are given. Each person places their cones and the course is laid out (and taken down in no time at all.) We can be in and out of there so fast...

Hmmm, maybe this idea needs a little polishing. Yup, better stick with the kart challenge instead Nate.

I'll likely be Kumho man this year. Victoracers for Autocross and ECSTA 712's for the street. The car is running well. The clutch still protests but it seems to be hanging in. I hope to have a few more suspensions goodies before the season starts.

I own 4 cones.

Playing Midnight club is bad for you. May cause you to put neons on your car.
