time to loose the heavy 17" and get some real rubber. Anyone know any good lightwieght (under 12lbs) and not expensive rims in 15x7 or 14x7? Is it better to use 15" or 14"? Its for a 2001 civic 4x100, and what is a good offset for solo2?
what is a good place to get rims+tires?
thanks

Good luck finding anything decent used in north america-there's a certain hada member that buys every single set of wheels before you even have a chance!:D
Check with Pete at the wheel and tire zone, there's a link in the khumo 710 thread.

Oh and forget about 14x7's,very very few wheels that size and the couple that do exist are kinda pricey, also tire sizing in 14's is pretty slim for all R and street tires.
Better to go 13's for race rubber and keep those 17's for the street.

13" won't clear his front brakes.
I'd go 15 x 7" with 225-50-15, 205-50-15 or 225-45-15.

On my 93 Civic and 92 Integra, 225-50-15" tires on 15 X 7" rims fit perfect with a 38mm offset.
Your car may be slightly different.
Your ride height will also affect the ability to fit the wheel/tire combo.
You'll have to figure out the optimum for your car either by test fitting or by word of mouth from other newer Civic owners.
Used (first-gen) miata stockers can be had for cheap and are lightweight (12 lbs?). They are 14x5.5 or 6" and 4x100. There are lots of choices in R rubber in this size.

Not really a wide range of choices in tire sizes for 14" wheels,205's are getting plenty wide for 5.5-6" wheels, although they do work they won't likely work any better a 195 on the same wheel.
I have a set of 185-60-14 o AO32R's that were meant for wet use only but circumstances forced me to use them three times in the dry(not once yet in the rain). To be honest the grip is pretty damn good compared to 205's on 15x7" wheels.
I have a pair of miata wheels, need another pair to mount the yoks on and then simply bore the hub out to fit the honda hub.

You forgot an important piece of information ...
What class are you planning on running next year?
If it's stock class, you only get 2 points to use and non-oem sized rims are 1 point, and r-compound tires are 1 point.
Just something to consider before you buy something, or end up in a class you didn't really want to be in.

i dont really know which class, but probably SP.....i think
i have coilovers catback intake rsx rear sway front upper strut, thats it, and no oem size wheel and r compund, i guess the coilvers already put me in SP, so i might as well get non stock wheel size

just have another question, i was using 20lbs rim and 215/45/17 yokohama es100 offset 45 last yr (just started solo2 in July) with driver side shock blown (only lowering spring with stock shocks) for a 2001 civic. i have installed coilovers 350F/500R spring rate + gonna get 225/50/15 victoracer 710 on some 12-13lbs rims offset 35-40, how much better "second wise" can my time improve generally?
thanks

Assuming say a 40 second course and that you are able to use the cars full ability's an easy 2-5 seconds could be had with lighter rims, better stick and better suspension control.
I could see perhaps even 10 seconds over the worn suspension, street tire set-up.
