Over the years I have seen just as bad drivers in Toronto, Hamilton and even last year in Montreal.

What vehicles are equipped with on board cameras?

Over the years I've had a number of close calls that look like it can be included in that footage. Usually I am trying to avoid someone else's stupidity.

I watched about half of that clip but didn't see it as all that remarkable because stuff like that happens all the time in the GTA.

Not around my place. I've seen two accidents of the s**t happens type - in half a year - pretty normal accidents unlike the loony stuff shown here. Maybe I live in a boring unremarkable area? I've never seen a guy get pushed out into traffic because the other guy is in a rush or the Dukes of Hazard clone maneuvers.

GTA? You should come up to "Disneyland-on-the-Rideau" for some really bad winter driving ... slow and dangerous at the same time.

I didn't watch all the clip but funny you should mention it because I have seen that done at a red light in Scarborough or North York or one of those places. Wasn't a rear ender either; the guy just drove up, stopped and then used his car to shove the other one into the intersection.

You need get out more...lol

Interesting. I think everyone has seen the video of the guy that dodged the rig that came over the center barrier out west of Milton on the 401. He moved out of the fast lane away from the rig and barely got by. The video was posted to Youtube and many people asked just why he had a video cam running in his car anyway.

His reply as I understand it was that he said he was 'screwed' by an insurance company recently and this was a form of future protection against any future insurance issues.

Could we see the insurance industry 'promote' or mandate the factory install of cam systems as a way to 'monitor' driving or during accident claims? I can see pro's and cons to such a development. I guess it depends on who has access and is that access court ordered or would you be forced to have it or turned down for car insurance. We already have data black boxes that the police get court orders to view unless you take the write off (car becomes property of insurance company now) which they use to determine fault. I just heard a mouth piece from the insurance lobby group - the IBC - say that they are looking into obtaining cell phone data to see if you were talking on a cell phone during any accident claim you make. The CFRB host did not ask the important question: just how do you intend to get such phone data?

We live in interesting times. I guess the Ludites ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neo-Luddism ) of the world go about their business in the back woods - surveillance free! :)

Yeah, we're getting pretty close these days to "the Mark of the Beast." Just watch out if someone wants to mark "666" on your wrist or forehead. ;)

^ i've found that driving on the interstates from here to florida the keep right except to pass is followed by a good amount of people to notice it

when i was in italy they drive in the center of the road between lanes or even across both lanes in either direction in small roads unless someone comes, then they move to the right - freaked me out for about 2 hours before i figured out everyone does it

in russia, it is good practice to check your mirror when overtaking people in the opposite lane. :)

I refuse to buy a car that has a "black box". I also will not buy a (new) car from a manufacturer that includes a "black box" on any of the vehicles in their lineup.

Unfortunately it is becoming more difficult to find manufacturers and cars not equipt with one.

Ontario should end mandatory insurance and tighten the regulations regarding licensing.

If this happened 20 years ago I would be about $44,000 richer. $44,000 give or take a few bucks is what I have paid for insurance since I started driving (zero claims or violations for that matter). This is over double what I paid for these vehicles since I first got my driver's license.
