OMSC announces Arrive and Drive Karting Program for 2011.

OMSC invites members and non-members to participate in this exciting new program orgainzed in partnership with Mosport International Karting.

Race evening will be the third Tuesday of each month beginning in May until September and possibly October depending on total participation numbers.

Program runs rain or shine. You do not have to be a member in good standing with OMSC to participate in this heavily subsidized program and we encourage you to invite your friends and family to also participate.

We will devote a portion of each of the OMSC Club General Meetings, held the first Tuesday of each month, to discussing and promoting this program. Non-Club members are always welcome at these meetings and to participate in the Q&A sessions on the program.

OMSC Club members will compete for the Club Karting Trophy along with other valuable Club Karting Championship prizes. Championship points will be awarded after each race. The Championship will be determined by OMSC members’ best 4 Race Evening finishes/points.

* Helmets and suits will also be available from Mosport Karting if you don’t have your own. Other safety equipment is required but can be sourced through MIK.

Register today and qualify for Early Bird pricing as well as the Early Bird prize draw.

What time in the evening do these start?

Ken (of MIK) reckons that we will have about 45 minutes to an hour of open lapping/practice while everyone is arriving and registering from around 5.30pm. I would guess that we will have the first set of qualifying at around 6.30pm and then heats and races for the balance of the evening until it gets dark at around 9.00pm or a bit later mid-summer.

Hope you can make it.

I have been looking at the MIK website and the rules. Wondering about the helmets that are approved for use. Wasn't able to find specific details of which helmets are approved for use other than supplied.
Discussions so far suggest that closed face would be a very good idea, if not mandatory.

Wondering if a Snell 95 closed face would pass tech? It's a snowmobile one but its' my favorite.

When will registration close?

MIK follows ASN Karting rules and regs so this should be an easy way to determine what helmets are good for the 2011 season. We have set a date of April 7th as the cut off to avoid a $25.00 increase in the membership fee.

With regard to deadlines, too; Everyone participating must go through the MIK school session (OMSC's first event in May) and so it will be important to have registered by then so that you can attend the school session.
