It was a very long but productive AGM.
In the open discussion session, which lasted over an hour, at least a dozen speakers rose to express opinions and ask questions of Board members. It was a very honest session, but carried out in a very courteous and rational manner.
From old business a committee was struck, to be headed by Peter Gulliver, to review the RSO voting system, including proxies. The committee is to report back to the membership with a report and recommendations at the next General Meeting, with the understanding that it would be done in time for changes to be implemented for the AGM next March.
Under New Business a discussion about splitting the roles of RSO President and CARS Rally Director indicated a will of the membership to see that done. It was left to the Board to oversee that.
A motion was approved to replace the Road Damage Fund with a Reserve Fund for the purpose of covering road damage expenses, road improvement expenses and other extraordinary expenses. The motion further stipulates that the Board is to strive to maintain a minimum of $25,000 in this fund.
After a presentation by Ross Wood about the new electronic timing equipment, a motion was approved to endorse the full purchase and maintenance plan. The equipment should make its debut at the Lanark Highlands Rally in May.
Then came the elections.
Ray Felice was elected to the position of President (two year term).
Warren Haywood was acclaimed to the position of VP of Performance Rally (two year term).
Peter Gulliver was acclaimed to the position of Treasurer (two year term).
Peter Gulliver was acclaimed to the position of Trustee (three year term).
Bruce Leonard was acclaimed to the position of VP Navigational Rally (one year term to fill the position vacated by the current VP).
Jeannie MacGillivray was acclaimed to the position of Secretary (one year term to fill position vacated by the current Secretary).
It was a highly productive meeting and the new Board is eager to get going.
