Hello everyone.
I have 2 questions that I hope I can get a hand with. Unfortunately I live way up north and can't make it to the open house.
First, can anyone let me know where I can get more information on the School that is to be offered? I sent an email to the club, but haven't heard anything.
Second it's a class question. I looked at the 2011 rules but there is no mention of it. I have a 2002 GTI with a blown spring. If I install a set of Koni STR T Shocks with Neuspeed sport springs that puts me in a modified class? These items are way cheaper than replacing stock.
I thank you all for any help you can provide a rookie.

The school is being held on April 30th & May 1st at the Powerade Centre. Registration will be the same as last year with simultaneous on-line (via PayPal) and in-person (at Open House) registration. The details will be posted in a couple of days but it doesn't change much from year to year...same great time each time!
It's a two day course: (I stole this from previous years info)
The first day focuses on assisting the driver to get better acquainted with their cars. The exercises being instructed throughout the day will instil confidence in the student and teach the driver about how to exploit the limits of their cars in a safe controlled environment.
Drivers will learn the limits of their daily driver through exercises specifically designed to get the driver and vehicle better acquainted with each other:
Pre-Requisite Day 2: Drivers must have had the basic instruction similar to Day 1, must have participated in other autoslalom schools, or club series competitive Autoslaloms.
Day 2: Advanced Driver Training – Phase 2
Day 2 focuses on increasing the driver confidence through setup techniques. In addition to the lessons learned in Day 1, Day 2 focuses on putting to practice all the items learned on Day 1, and will teach the student to look farther ahead, and to plan their course.
Second it's a class question. I looked at the 2011 rules but there is no mention of it. I have a 2002 GTI with a blown spring. If I install a set of Koni STR T Shocks with Neuspeed sport springs that puts me in a modified class? These items are way cheaper than replacing stock.
You can change shocks and stay in Stock class but changing springs will bump you to Super-Stock. If your long-term plans for the car are to do suspension upgrades, go for the shock/springs and don't worry about classing. Just show up and have a good time and worry about the prep-work later. Can't you just get a spring from the wreckers? Nothing on vwvortex? Have you tried Frisco Auto, they are stupid cheap on VW parts...

Here is the poster from last years school. It should be pretty much the same this year.

Sounds silly but most vw/audi stuff tends to be far less money from the dealer. we dont even bother looking aftermarket anymore as we have genarly found stuff 50% chepper from oe.

Thank you for the advice.
I actually lucked out and ended up getting a great deal on a full set of springs and shocks. The Neuspeed springs were actually cheaper for 4 than just 2 oem. Found a great place in the US for VW/Audi stuff.
Good luck this season. Hope to see you out there.
