In response to a focus group that polled a group of drivers at the 2010 CASC AGM, the newly proposed ST1, ST2, and STU classes have been replaced.
New Street Tire Classes for the 2011 Autoslalom Championship
STGC, a class for miata drivers only
STWT, where you can use winter tires only
STCT, Canadian Tire Street tires only
STFT, Flat street tires. Aluminum rims only of course.
STFU, a class for street tires, for unlimited only
STNP, as suggested by last years course marshall, why not a class for people with no pants.
As well as the new classes, it was decided that we needed more of a draw for spectators, so for 2011 the following was approved.
Bonus time deductions will be awarded for:
Fire Drill maneuvers where the driver and passenger swap sides, but must start and finish the maneuver buckled in – 5 second deducted per time on course, including the stop and start boxes. The car cannot be in motion whilst the driver and passenger swap sides
Extra points for “flair” as judged by a committee. Examples of flair include sliding over the hood, cartwheels while changing seats and so on.
Driving on 3 wheels – the time clock will stop for the period of time that a car “dog-legs” or has one of its wheels off the ground.
More details will be coming later this week.
