is insurance needed to race?

hey guys, im new to this board
as well as new to this type of racing

i've done solo2 before, and now i want to get into solo 1

however, i want to buy another car strictly for racing
a honda crx specifically

now really, what im asking is what do i need to race....

do i have to insure my car?
do i need licence plates?

like...
what i initially wanted to do was just buy a car, work on it, and race it throughout the summer

not insure it, and not get licence plates
because the car will never be driven on the street

is that allowed?

Sure!

The car that you drive at the track does not need to be insured. We have quite a few competitors who trailer their car track-only street car. As long as you won't drive it on the street, there is no need for you to get plates or insurance for it.
