Welcome to the Gran Turismo 3 Challenge for B-Class cars!
*This challenge commences Feb 07, 2004 at 12:00 am Eastern Time and closes Feb 14, 2004 at 12:00 am Eastern Time.
*Eligible cars are listed under Arcade Mode, as being B-class cars.
*The Challenge proper, will take place in Simulation Mode, under the Run & Setting option of the Home menu.
*There are two sub-classes in the B-Class division: Race Car and Normal Car.
*This Challenge is only open to board members, as per categories on this board, i.e. Solo 1, Solo 2, etc., and no results from friends, or times from other UBB's, can be posted.
*Competitors must be able to prove their claims.
*Competitors are required to post results in a format as per the following example:
Subaru Legacy B4 Blitzen
B-Class, Normal Car
Laguna Seca
Best Time: 1'42.052"
*All modifications are legal!
*The competitor with the fastest time in each Sub-class is the winner. (It is up to you to find the fastest car and setup!)
*Winners are required to declare their car setup in a brief summary of the main reasons for their success. (This is to allow other competitors to perhaps learn something useful.)

Hey on the list they have it says RX7. which one? the old Turbo 2 style or the new style like the RS, because in the next class up it shows the RX7 but it is the RZ style.

Your S2000 was a Normal Car, right?
I'd love to use the RX-7 as well (it's on the screen at left, in white text) but because it can't be selected in Arcade Mode, it's excluded from competition. :(
The Gen III RX-7 will be allowed in next week's competition though. :D

Yea it is a normal style S2000 with a turbo and all the other goodies, I just suck at set-up. I am sure that car can go faster.
I also have that nice Spoon endurance S2000 I wonder it is would be faster

The GT2 tracks is significantly different. The cars have more grip (generally I think) and the track allows you to go way off without loosing speed. In GT3 the gravel actually slows you down.

Everyone here thinks that the secret is in the settings! Sorry to say but the majority of the time comes from driving, and once your consistent enough the settings help tune out weak spots. The settings that make the most difference are downforce and gearing, with the rest providing minimal gains.
On the S2000 LM my times are as follows (all with TCS and ASM turned off, max turbo upgrade, supersoft tires and oil change):
As stock: 1'09.589
w/ Max downforce front, 1.2 rear: 1'07.262
w/ Final drive changed to top 6th gear out: 1'06.565
w/ suspension tweaks - camber 4/3, etc: 1'06.108
As you can see by the one replay VIDEO I try to stay 100% on the gas, with only lifting for braking and throttle steering. You will also notice that I am on the track all the time (DISCIPLINE!!!) and create my fastest times by doing so.
Now that everyone has some experience on Leguna Seca the true test is License test S-6. I can bust out a Gold medal fairly easily, with my fastest time coming at 1'15.9xx

The Champion decides the next challenge? Yup, that sounds good!
What do you compete in anyway--autocross, Solo 1, Race, etc?

I campaign the #113 Civic EG in the TGTC Race Program. I ran a fast time of 1'38.4xx at Mosport last year and should be considerably faster this year.
I do believe that most people get frustrated on the license test in GT3 because they fail alot but if you want to master the game that is where you learn. I have every gold medal and can repeat most of them easily. I do not suggest using license S-6 as a competition as many people will quickly quit. A better one would be Time Trial #7 in the Arcade Mode.
What do you race in?

I do Solo 2. I'll be doing the Regionals this year, plus the PITL, TLMC and HADA club series. I'll also do a few events at WOSCA, and COMP.
