Just came across this press release from the American GT Challenge (which I have never heard of):

....

Second Race:
May 21-23
Mosport Victoria Day Weekend
Schedule is forth coming
We will be the feature on Sunday, May 23rd Race time will be 1:00PM.
Mosport has asked that as many drivers as possible attend the open practice on Thursday May 20th.

......

Looks like Trans-Am isn't coming to Mosport this year?? Wouldn't surprise me with all the problems and delays they've gone through.

Anyone have any info on this series??????

That's right, I do remember hearing something about TA at the Indy this year. That should be cool too!!

So Basically...they are Trans-Am cars......but not Trans-Am cars!?

Why am I sensing another Grand-Am vs ALMS type thing here?

I'm not expecting a huge grid for this one guys!

This series will be nowhere near ALMS, Trans-Am or Rolex Grand-Am. This series is built as a low cost alternative for guys who can't afford to run in Trans-Am or Rolex GT. The racing should be alright, but there won't be any big names. I wouldn't be surprised if the fields are fairly big actually. There's ALOT of older TA cars in the US that have nowhere to play right now.

I meant that this series will be direct competition with Trans Am.

Kinda like CART (OWRS) vs. IRL

I didn't mean the series would be like ALMS.

I don't doubt that there are tons of old Trans Am cars in North America, the best of these all run in SCCA sactioned regional GT1 competition. There is hardly a huge Grid in GT1 at the Runoffs.

Basically in my opinion this is a series for the Trans Am "also rans". I'm still not expecting it to be a huge grid. Remember, it's February and the cars have to be on track April 10th. That's not a lot of time to get a series off of the ground.

I hope they prove me wrong, but that's how I see it.

Don't be too shocked to see the odd T/A team at some of these races...

Their Schedule on their website says they have an event in Toronto on July 11th weekend. But of course they don't include on that schedule the civic holiday weekend in Trois Rivieres. Who knows with Mr Gentillozi.
