"American GT Challenge

Canadian Formula Ford Championship Series
Formula SCCA Open Wheel
Honda / Michelin Series
Ontario Touring Car Championship
ISSECO / KUMHO FV1200 Championship

plus
P.A.C.E.R. presents the ultimate import/tuner weekend featuring Drifting Demonstrations on track), Show & Shine contests, Fashion Shows, Bikini Model search, Dyno Competitions,
Massive foam party hosted by radio personalities, Illusion Night light competition and large vendor village."
The Miata Cup should be fun to watch, they always have big fields and close racing. The Honda Michelin should be good too. I expect we'll have a great field for the Touring GT races as well.
I'm curious to see the drifting demonstration, should be fun seeing cars go sideways around corner 8, then swing it sideways for 9, then back the other way for 10.

The American GT Challenge is a new one to me? I Googled it and found absolutely nothing that fits?
Anybody know what it is?

This is the group that was in negotiation with SCCA to buy the name Trans-Am before the current owners challeged it. If it's any indication one of the names they were considering for the series is American V-8.
I understand they are busy getting a website up and running - the most info I have been able to get about them is from the Forum section on the Trans-Am Internet League website at:http://www.tainternetleague.com

All sounds very strange! OWR the new CART owners have already purchased the whole Trans Am package name and all. They will run with most if not all the CART series and have announced lots of events alas not at Mosport. Their absence at the Vic day events will have a big impact on attendance there.
Actually it might prove to be a very good w/e of competitive racing without any big names. Seems kinda short notice to field any meaningful Honda Michelin Series though.
I did some searching around and I think this American GT Challenge is definitely different from Trans-Am. It's another new series (like we need another one) designed for the older Trans-Am and GT1 cars that have nowhere to play (other than SCCA club).
Not having Trans-Am there will certainly hurt attendance.
And I agree, everything seems to be short notice this year which will make for a shaky season in all series I think (except world challenge, they're solid as ever).
Regarding the drifting, yes I did see the CASCAR event the last couple years and you're absolutely right, they were sliding all over the track.

For those who want to really ring out their ride come to the BARC May 1 & 2 weekend at Mosport. Lot's of track time, few gophers, and no goats.
Be interesting to see a few of those new Hondas there.
I know most of the regional competitors are all prepped and ready to run, NOT! But this should help to remind you to dust off that ride, fire her up and tweak her a bit 'cause last year she ran soooooo good that you don't need to do major work.
Only 12 more weekends and it will be "Drivers, try and start your engines".

I find it hard to believe that at a time when the TransAm series can only field less than 20 cars that a meaningful second series can be successfully started and run.
A successful series requires money, admin and technical services (paid) . I wish them luck but a lot of work will have to be done if this is to emerge as a REAL National Series.
Getting a web site up is easy the rest is hard in todays financial climate.

They must be taking guidance from the IRL/CART experiance.
2 must be better than 1
Its a plan that works in the NHL too.All those teams just raking in the money!
