Shoot!!!!!
And I thought racing was "slightly" dangerous.
I was out for a walk on Feb 1st, the NIGHT before I was to start a brand new job........ which would afford me a great many years of road racing.
Well, just a few houses away from mine, slip, CRACK fall.
I broke my leg, ARGHHHHHHHH!
With my cell phone battery on 1/8th of a bar left, I called 911. Held my knee while my leg kinda "dangled".
It is pure hell, full length fiberglass cast (in a nice racer blue, I asked for red, they didn't have any). So I can barely sit, I lost my job since I'll be in this cast for 2 months, and then a smaller cast for 2 more after that, then rehab.
CRAP!
Anyone ever break anything during a race incident? Just curious, and just wondering how your "loved" one handled it?!?!?!

I broke a promise to myself not to make a stupid passing attempt. My wife called me an idiot!

Nope, never broke anything. I did bruse my ego a little when I smoked my engine. :(

Damn Myron! Really sorry to hear that :(
I know what it's like though - I broke my hand a few days before starting the BFRA mechanics programme. Made it extra difficult to do anything and impossible to get into the F2000 with a cast on (no room in the cockpit).
Hopefully you have a speedy recovery.

I feel your pain (literally). I snapped my achilles tendon in Cuba at the beginning of October. Two months on crutches, another month in a fiberglass splint and now an indefinite period of rehab.
That must've been one hell of a break to end up in a cast for so long.

Myron: I am really sorry to hear about your accident. Have a speedy recovery.
I had an accident racing. I broke my arm and they needed to operate on it as there was nerve damage. In a cast for 6 weeks and then therapy. What type of accident you ask? I slipped on the ice at Minden, no cars involved, but it was at an ice race. True story.

Myron - sorry to hear you are laid up. sounds like walking is more dangerous than racing!
The closest I have come to a racing injury was when I t-boned a rabbit about 70 mph with my scirocco while ice racing at Quebec City during the winter carnival with about zero visibility. I broke my car not my bones. Only my neck and back hurt for a few days. I wasn't married so there were no issues .
However, I did manage to hit a parked car with my motorcycle at 60 mph one month before I turned 18. It hurt. I was still well enough to argue with the ambulance driver about the fastest route to the hospital. three weeks & change in the children's ward in traction. I got out the day before my 18th birthday. Then four months in a leg brace - not a good time.

For those of you who don't know, Myron ran the CASC-OR booth at last years autoshow basically all by himself. This year I got him 47 volunteers to help out. Unfortunately he didn't know that and broke his own leg just to get out of working it this year, how ironic!
Myron,
I hope the new job will be waiting for you, if not, get a real sleasy lawyer and sue the city, the owner of the proerty you fell on, and whomever can get you a few bucks for your misfortune.
Get well soon, and I do hope to race again with you real soon......You're real fun to pass!

Let me see if I can find my Go Rusty T-shirt and my Budweiser Beer can hat and of course the "I HATE JEFF GORDON" seat cushion. Then we can make the trip to "The Land of the Brave and Home of the Free"
