Are there any inexpensive regional race schools later than MCO on Apr 24-25?

There's none on the schedule last time I looked. If your race car isn't ready you can use a road car, but if you're going for your licence, it has to be a manual gearbox. Check www.mco.org (http://www.mco.org) and go to the schools section for details.

Ya, thats the problem... My other car is auto. I could probably borrow my gf's car, but she needs a clutch really bad! I guess we'll see what happens. I'd love to just do the Bridgestone thing, but as stupid as it sounds, it would be cheaper to just buy another car and do mco:D; I really don't trust my luck enough to use a rental either.

I recently read a draft of the poster for this year's school, and I think I saw a reference that automatics are now OK but not recommneded. You can check this with with Rob Microys, the school organizer, at r.microys@rogers.com (http://r.microys@rogers.com) for confirmation.

OR

Rob. Can you clear this up if you see this post?

I emailed Rob about a month ago unfortunately he said no to automatics. The thing is that my auto is technically more of a race car than my race car lol. Rear wheel drive, more power, bigger brakes, shorter wheelbase, etc. etc.

Sorry about that, I just checked the poster and the MCO web site, and I guess I mis-read them. What about a quick tranny change on your road car, or a rental car with a manual shift? You know, you wouldn't be the first one to take a school in a "we try harder" car.;)

John, we allow automatics to attend the course, as not all students are focused on getting a race license. Anybody wanting a race license, must attend either the HRC or the MCO school in a stick shift car. Unfortunate, but true.

What about automatics with manual valve bodies?

After Rob's last post I re-checked the CASC regs.. It's their requirement and I guess it makes sense, as racing cars with automatics are rare. If you get your licence with an automatic of any kind and then try to race a car with a manual ... well during a race really isn't the time to learn how to shift gears manually, is it?!:(

Now, don't those normally just go in straight lines? ;) Seriously though, what sort of car are you talking about here to take the race school with here?
