I just saw the 2012 schedule and noticed G70 under 2500lbs can run with the V/H twice this summer at non points races at Mosport. I am super excited lol!
Dad and I will be there for one of those weekends with the civic's for sure!
Does anybody know how much the 944 porches weigh?? just curous how big this feild is going to be.

Curious, where does it say that this is allowed?

Curious, where does it say that this is allowed?

It says on the preliminary schedule on Varac's website. What puzzles me, does this mean G70 and Vintage will now be run as a combined group for these events? Or will G70 get two sets of races during the weekend?

I have to admit, I am rather surprised by this decision, as I would have thought the general consensus would have been to keep the groups apart. If I were racing in Vintage, I wouldn't like running with groups combined because it takes away from the whole idea of running with cars from the same time period... not to mention the speed difference.

Maybe I am just too much of a purist in that regard, as I can't see E30s, 944s, and Civics being coined as Vintage. :o

I don't think you will ever see them run together at a VARAC event. Neither of the events with a combined Vintage / G70 grids are part of the VARAC championship calendar.

This combined grid of V/H and G70+ is a just for fun race being offered at the 2 regional weekends where VARAC is not runing Championship point grids.
The idea was disscussed and accepted at this years AGM as a way to help the organizing clubs to acheive a reasonable car counts on the weekends that we were not origionally going to suport.
The 2500 lbs is without driver. The reason for this wheight limit is that it falls in line with the new safety measures that were set last year for the V/H grids.
As it says it is JUST FOR FUN ,no points no trophys. So for those of you that cant bear to stay at home on a race weekend come out to play. I plan to be there with my 944 as do many others( and yes most of the 944 n/a cars are under 2500 lbs)

Wow.... my RX7 weighs 2450 without driver ( I have way more cage than Al). Sounds interesting and could be fun. Great way to get a second or third class in on a race weekend.

I wonder what the race discount is for running 3 classes, Sprints, GT Challange and G70, LOL?
