I am going to lapping day at Mosport DDT on May 18. I was wondering who else is going? Having never deen on the DDT before, it would be nice to get some help on proper lines through the course. Mosport sounds like it is going to be a busy place this weekend, will we have problems (ie. line ups) getting in for the Solo 1 events? Can we get from the DDT over to the big track to check out some of the races?

Hi Brent
This is my first Solo 1 as well.
I asked the same question and no one answered.
I think you turn in where the 1/2 mile entrance is which is not really in Mosport Park, but on the back side of the 1/2 mile you can get into the park by walking through the fence. Smile
But by the time Solo 1 is over at night, so will be the Racing probably.
I think part of the parking lot for the 1/2 oval is part of Solo 1
track or near it.
Anyway its the first entrance you see will be the 1/2 track oval.
I will be there

There are apparently about 55 people registered for the Friday lapping day. Please walk up to anyone and ask them to give you a ride or to ride with you for some tips/lines. You will not get turned down. The people in Solo 1 and Solo 2 are some of the nicest people I have met. If you can't find someone with the same car as you, I'm in a reg Integra. Drop by.
Mosport will indeed be very busy this weekend. The entrance to the DDT is the very first one with the chain linked fence where the Bridgestone school is located. Same entrace as to get to the oval. I don't think we'll have problems getting in. The entrance to the main track is further down the road.
Entrace to the oval from the DDT is closed but driving over to the big track is certainly doable as it's only 2 minutes away. Of course, as DECH_92 says, by the time we finish, so will they :-(

I may come and steal some rides.
I have the current Solo-1 record there (you gotta beat 56.23 on the periphery to get it this weekend, and someone is sure to), so I can be of some help. Maybe. :)

DECH_92:
It's nice to know I won't be the only rookie. What are you driving, so I can find you.
ctenche:
What class are you in this year? I will be in CSS1. I may take you up on the offer of a drive around.
Shaman:
I'll let you take some laps in my car so I can learn from you. Just remember that it is a Neon and I don't think you will be able to better your record with it. I do have new tires though.

Wish you were going to have your car there Shaman, want to see it
1) Does anyone know what the schedules for the lapping day and race days are? Especially the lapping day: will gates be open Thurs evening? When is Tech inspection? (i.e. when do I have to wake up?)
2) Advance tickets for the Trans Am weekend are $40. If we have three run groups of two hours each (work one, drive one, one off), it might be possible to see something. The Mosport site now has a detailed schedule for the Trans Am event at http://www.mosport.com/roadhome.htm
3) Camping. I was planning on camping at the DDT track. The Trans Am site mentions "General Camping" = $30. Will we be able to camp at the DDT track for free? Does the $30 get you anything (E.g. showers, which I can’t recall if the DDT track has)? Someone mentioned that there is a conventional campground nearby?

Mark:
The only information I can find is on Barry Searle's page (solo 2 link), all it gives is directions to Mosport and that registration starts at 8:00am in building. So all I can figure is to be there 8:00 sharpe. I would like to know more about what time to be there for lapping tomorrow since I have to work till 12:00 tonight.

1) I think your better off showing up friday morning. Chances are that the gates will be closed thursday unless the Bridgstone school is running orsome has rented the oval. But still, i can't imagine they will allow you to stay on there property thursday night. I guess you could sleep outside the gates.
2) From expirence, don't waste your money on the Trans Am tickets. Since you have to marchall between run groups or work on your car.
3) Camping is FREE! We didn't have any troubles last year.....
