Shannonville(FABI TRACK) question: This is a question about the turn after the fast left double apex on the Fabi track I believe the double apex is turn-5 and then there is a sharp right turn I believe turn-6.

What are your speeds through the right turn in KM , I'm particularly interested in answers from people with hondas-
88-up crx/civic and any year integra

Can't say I look at the speedo while on the track. I do however downshift into 2nd just before entering the right hander after the double apex. I'm in 2nd for a very brief period of time and pretty much right after the track-out point I'm back in 3rd.

I've tried staying in 3rd through the turn but there just isn't enough torque. It's a trade off really, loose time in 3rd with no torque or loose time shifting. Eh? What are you gonna do.

Anyway, let's say very top of 2nd, so that comes out to about 90 km/h or so on my non-VTEC Teg.

Here's my question. Why does the speed in that particular turn matter to you?

I use third. But, I don't have a Honda.

The only reason I'm posting is to say that how you set up that right hander is more important than the speed you carry through it - although once you have the setup, you optimize the speed. If you do that corner wrong (by overspeeding the carousel itself, like I do 80% of the time) then you'll find that you will be throwing away the straight entirely just trying to keep the car from sliding off the track and/or spinning the wheels.

Well I have a 90 crx with engine bolt ons and I have become more and more interested in suspension and with my current set up I can come out of the double apex tap the brakes and keep the car in 3rd and pull a 97ish km, So I just want to know what other hondas are pulling through that turn.

I used to downshift to 2nd with stock suspension(just r1 tires) ,because the car would just understeer into the grass if I kept it in 3rd. I unfortunatly do not remember my speed before my sus mods as I was probaly too busy with the understeer, but it was the same routine as yours : (I heel/toe) 2nd,turn,exit,3rd.

Yes indeed shaman I am just seeing if the suspension mods are working and the only way to see that is to watch speed. As I didn't have a baseline to compare to because I don't remember my speed before my mods, that is why I am looking for input.

Ah I see, you're trying to figure out if recent mods made a difference.

I do that too, but not directly with speed but rather with RPM. If I reach redline earlier than a set reference point then I know I'm carrying more speed.

Anyway, based on your description, it sounds about right.

Are you tuning your car for one courner or something?

Consentrate on the enitre lap.........

So how do your times look? Have they improved over stock? by how much? which track does the mod's make the biggest difference?
