Has anyone given any thought as to where is the best place to stay for the Cayuga wkend ? I assume we may have to trek back to Stoney Creek or Hamilton , ( both towns I am totally ignorant of. ) Does any one have any suggestions ??

I've been thinking about that, too. There's no way I'm going home to Kingston between days! :)

I live in Ancaster, about a 20 minute drive from Cayuga. If you want I'll look into lodging options in the area. I'd invite you both to stay at my place but I've already got more than full household that weekend with friends and family staying over. There is a motel in Cayuga no more than 5 minutes away from the track that I recall seeing on the way up there and I'm sure theremust be a motel in Caledonia, the nearest town of any size, which is about 10 minutes or so from Cayuga. Mount Hope or somewhere on Upper James St./Hwy 6 in Hamilton would do the trick too, being no more than 20 minutes from Cayuga. Maybe try yellowpages.ca and see what you can find there.

Let me know if you want me to browse the local phone book,
Dave

Hagersville Inn
51 King W, Hagersville, ON N0A 1H0 Phone: (905)768-5731
-- Hagersville is about 5-10 minutes from the track. Check out

Motel California
1075 Hwy 2, Ancaster, ON L9G 3K9 Phone: (905)648-1821
-- 2 minutes from my house and about 20 minutes to the track

Maple Farms Motel
1185 Hwy 2, Ancaster, ON L9G 3K9 Phone: (905)648-4466
-- right next door to the motel above.

Pleasant Stay Motel
2692 Hwy 2, Alberton, ON L0R 1A0 Phone: (905)648-2728
-- 100 feet away from the above 2 motels, but strangely listed in a different town.

Sundown Motel
1492 Hwy 2, Jerseyville, ON L0R 1R0 Phone: (905)648-6172
-- again, just down the road from the above 3 motels. I think all of these are kept alive by truckers using Hwy 2 and the 403 to London.

Days Inn
1187 Upper James, Hamilton, ON L9C 3B2 Phone: (905)575-9666
-- In Hamilton, direcly on Hwy 6/Upper James which is on-route to Cayuga. About a 20 minute drive to the track.

Super 8 Motel
2975 Homestead, Mount Hope, ON L0R 1W0 Phone: (905)679-3355
-- also on Hwy 6, further up the road towards Cayuga. It's located right next to the Hamilton airport.

That's about all I could dig up on the yellowpages.ca

Cheers,
Dave

From the BMW Club of Canada web site:

Comfort Inn, 85 THE QUEENSWAY EAST (Highway 3), SIMCOE. 519 426-2611. It's 30 minutes west of the track.

I'll be at the Motel California in Ancaster. Not sure if that's the one I should have chosen, but hey, never been to the area before.

Well, having been at the Motel California, it's hard to recommend. It's really 40-45 minutes from the track (I tried three different routes), has no alarm clock and no phone. The little restaurant (Joe's Only Seafood) wasn't bad right in front of it, or the ice cream place, but the room smelled musty, there was mold on the shower floor (no bathtub) and there was really no room for my truck + trailer.

For $45 a night I don't feel cheated, but if I hadn't been able to park sideways in the lot because there was almost nobody there, I couldn't have stayed there.

The Super 8 motel in Mount hope was ok at 70$ and the restaurant in the parking lot is open for breakfast by 6 AM .
It's 25-30 min to the track on some pretty road but is only about 5 min from lots of chain restaurants ,bars etc in Hamilton .
I was the only Solo 1 guy there so I didn't see any on the HADA guys doing repairs in the parking lot . Yes it is probably worth going back to . Did anyone stay at the Days Inn ? If so , how much further down the road into Hamilton was it ?

I saw a Super 8 about 10 minutes closer to the track than I was at along Highway #6. IIRC

Sorry if I steered either of you wrong with my list of hotels. It was only meant to be a preliminary search, and I think I recommended the Days Inn or the Super 8 (both on Hwy 6) in my post to the Solo e-mail list. Those are probably the two safest bets. However, the Medstat guys stayed at a hotel in Dunnsville, which is apparently about 20 minutes from the track.

I'm surprised it took Steve so long to get to the track from Ancaster, since it only takes me 25 minutes. I guess I have some local knowledge of back roads that help speed the trip along.

I'll post some more detailed back road directions before the next Cayuga event.
