New Classification System Track 'Records'

As food for thought, I have combed through the 91-00 results and tabulated what would be the best times in each of the new classes.

I have had to use my best judgement (!) for those cars whose preparation levels were not what they seemed to be, but feel free to suggest alterations ...

very interesting stuff Chris! Thanks for putting that together. Man, some of those older times are absolutely amazing. That AM 63 Corvette doing a 49.x second lap on Nelson absolutely floors me. I mean come on, that's not exactly a power track! Amazing stuff. Um, and I did notice a few McGraths on there too. Hmmm, anybody know this guy? ;) Glad to see my name sneak in there too :)

After last weekend's events I have revised the figures somewhat.
There was also one mistake: the A1 is also held by Steve Rotenberg.

I've also counted Bruce Murphy's M3 as a B1 car in these numbers even though he ran in BSS1 since he has an upper strut brace. Its just that his times are much more representative of what a B1 car should be doing on these tracks!

The only other changes are for BSS1 and BM on Fabi and C2 on Nelson.

Nice job! Not to go beep beep on my own air horn, but would a 75.797 time on Fabi qualify for record status in CSS1? ;)

George's last post is correct!

Somehow I overlooked the fact that his CSS1 time on Fabi bested the previous best time for a CSS1 equivalent car set by Tony McGrath in his Nissan in 1994. It must have been that all those white Type R's look alike so I got it confused with another ;)

On reviewing the spreadsheets I've realized I made another booboo: Stephen Tong's impressive 57. 191 is not in fact the best time for a C2-level car, Tony McGrath ran a 57.122 in a 90 Prelude in 1995! This also pips Ross Ayrhart's CSS time so Tony loses one and gains two :D

As promised, I have finished compiling the records for all of the tracks Solo 1 has run on.

This time I have put them into a .pdf file for everyone's enjoyment.

I noticed another mistake that had crept into my original work, namely that I missed Nikki Chan's run of 59.954 on Nelson which is the best time for a B3 car. He ran his 99 Impreza RS in the CS class last year.

My previous caveats about these figures still apply. Please note that I have taken 'propositioning' into account for the records, which is to say that you can't hold a class record for a class if someone in a 'less-prepared' car was faster.
