Brampton Gone for Solo2 too?

Geez, I never even got to run there ... just got this from Alberto ...

"Due to circumstances beyond Drift Nation's control, the Brampton Centre for Sports and Entertainment has cancelled DriftKhana Session 1 originally scheduled for April 24th, 2004. The Brampton Centre's Insurance Company has decided to temporarily discontinue all motorsport events on their property. We will be receiving a letter of apology from the Brampton centre Monday April 26, 2004. We received this news as of 12:45pm Friday April 23, 2004."

Um, I posted this so that clubs that have the facility booked can call Brampton and confirm this, not so that people can dump on drifting.

Mr. Jannarone wrote "temporarily," so I hope those clubs that run events there can find out and address exactly what the insurance concerns are.

I realize some folks have a less-than-charitable attitude towards drifting, but to me it is just one more form of motorsports, and the people involved in it are just as much automotive enthusiasts as anyone.

Nope, no drift-hating here. I worked the event last year, and I'll be volunteering for most of the rest of the DN events this year.

By the way, just for info, the event this weekend was going to be a drift school not a competition.

None of the clubs that have booked events there have heard anything official from the Brampton Centre. Too bad they have to read about it here.....

I just saw a thread on this on VWVortex and came running here to see what is up. This is really too bad. I hope this is only temporary and more venues aren't forced into this posture by their insurance companies.
